At the end of Jesus' physical trek on earth He said:

Did you guys seek or are you guys seeking, out the mysteries of God's kingdom of heaven or are you stuck on, esteeming and using parables?
Fact is those mysteries will not be found in the O.T. nor will they be found every where in the Holy KJV N.T.. Only the twelve disciples were given by God to follow Jesus and to get the mysteries of God's kingdom of heaven from Him.
The mysteries of God's kingdom of heaven will be found only in those very few deliveries which Jesus made in private session, to only his twelve disciples, in very private sessions among only them.
Every one else got only parables from Jesus. Jesus confirmed that parables were given to people who were not given by God to know the mysteries of God's kingdom of heaven. Jesus also confirmed that parables were given to those people to take away what they had and leave them with nought.

Jesus had two agendas:

Following Jesus is about being given by God to get and use the mysteries of God's kingdom of heaven. Parables were given for the dead to bury each other.
The mysteries of God's kingdom of heaven were hid from Abraham's generations and those others, until 2000 odd years ago when Jesus came to earth in a physical body. And even then Jesus gave those mysteries to only his disciples in very private session among only them:
