Wait, 'The Media' didn't attack someone until it became manifestly in their self interest to do so?

Shocker! Hold the Press! ahem.

When are people going to stop blaming whichever agenda driven media conglomerate they don't like, and start blaming the millions of people too apathetic to actually look into things themselves and apply a bit of critical thought? That's the problem, surely?

We've all got a huge slice of any given population seemingly unwilling to think about anything unless it's presented as a binary choice, then we're all apparently bewildered when the shallow ends of the bell-curve punch everyone in the face simply by being halfway organised and/or coherent. Trump, Farage, Corbyn, Sanders, Le Pen, take your pick.

It goes both ways, the Left Wing media does this, the Right Wing media does that, as if Left and Right really mean anything anymore in politics.

You've seen it, right? The vox-pop.
It's the Trump supporter who would clearly struggle to count how many toes he has (of which there may well be too many) railing incoherently against a question he wasn't asked.
It's the looney-tune undergrad at a university who gets her jimmies so rustled by a Hallowe'en costume that she can no longer comprehend that by definition a university cannot be a 'safe space', especially if the thing that 'triggers' her is the lack of a pronoun that simply cannot exist.
Well, [$Direction] Media didn't conjure either of these people from thin air. Granted, they gave them the oxygen of publicity, but their agenda doesn't extend too far beyond keeping it divisive, keeping it simple, ensuring it remains binary. Bums on seats, yo. Grab the popcorn.
And it's all rather amusing until a poll, referendum, or election occurs and it suddenly becomes clear that millions of people looked at something like one of the above and thought to themselves, "seems reasonable", and voted accordingly.

Well, whoops, there's a 'self determination' sized gap conspicuously hanging in the aether.

It ain't the media, they're going to spin a buck regardless of how messy it gets. All of them.
It's the electorate, a worrying number of whom will blithely sell themselves down the river, happy to blame the fictional 'other side' of a binary divide that simply doesn't exist, so long as they don't have to, well, think about it.
