Did Adam Lose His Free Will in the Fall?

There is nothing in the Bible about Adam and Eve losing their free will because they sinned against God. What they lost was not their free will, what they lost was their relationship with God. God withdrew his Spirit from Adam and Eve and they became sinners. Everyone born after Adam and Eve are born without God's Spirit and need to be born again. The Bible teaches that people are born again by hearing and believing the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

"Being born again, not of corruptible seed (Adam) but of incorruptible (Christ) by the word of God (The Gospel) which lives and abides forever" 1 Peter 1:23.

By his own free will Cain murdered his brother Abel, Genesis 4:8. Here we have proof that free will is alive and well. God did not make Cain murder his brother. Cain by his own free will murdered his brother Abel because he was jealous of him. God accepted Abel's offering and rejected Cain's offering, Genesis 4:3-7. This caused Cain to become jealous of Abel that resulted in his murder.

Later on in Genesis we have a group of people that want to rebel against God with their own free will by building a tower called "The Tower of Babel" This tower was supposed to reach into the heavens so that they could make a name for themselves. God had other plans for them. What is interesting is that the scripture says, "Now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do, Genesis 11:6" If they didn't have a free will why would the scriptures say that? God messed up their plan of rebellion by confusing their languages and the Lord scattered them upon the face of the earth, Genesis 11:9.

Did Abraham have a free will? God said to Abraham, "Get out of your country and get away from your relatives and from your fathers house unto a land that I will show you, Genesis 12:1. Now this was a commandment directed to Abraham. Could Abraham have said, "Hell no, I don't want to go?" Of course he could have. Later on we have Abraham by his own free will lying to the Egyptians, he told them that Sarai was his sister and not his wife, Genesis 12:10,13.

There are hundreds of other incidences in the Bible where people are making choices and decisions by their own free will. God did not create robots. The scriptures says, "Let us make man after our image, after our likeness" Genesis 1:26.If we are created after the image of God then we are created with a free will. Everything that God creates he creates with a free will. The angels in heaven have a free will. If they don't have a free will then how was there rebellion in heaven? Revelation 12:7-9.

The Holy Spirit calls and we answer. The answer is either yes or no. Those that answer with a yes are the ones that are born again by the word of God, which is the Gospel. On the day of Pentecost Peter preached the Gospel for the very first time and thousands heard and believed, Acts 2:41. This is why Paul wrote, "So then faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God" which is the Gospel Romans 10:17. We hear, but not all hear and believe. God is not about to impose himself on anyone. If he did that he would be unjust. If you want to be saved you will have to come to Christ as a repentant sinner and ask him to save you. "Whosoever that shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved" Romans 10:13.

Right, scripture does not say they lost free will.

what they lost was their relationship with God.
Scripture doesn't say that either.

The fact that Adam and Eve were banned from the Garden tells us that they lost their relationship with God.

Absolutely totally not! They were punished. That's all.
If your child does something wrong, and you punish him- does that mean he lost his relationship with you?
And if the relationship was lost to Adam and all his descendants- what do you do with all those OT people who clearly did have a relationship with God?

Those that had a relationship with God in the Old Testament did so because of faith.

Like Abraham, they believed God's promise of a savior and it was counted unto them for righteousness, Romans 4:3.

What scripture says that Adam had freewill at anytime ?

You deny that Christ is the Saviour. You teach that those He came to Save will perish in their sins anyways! Abraham didn't believe that!

The good information I would like to see from scripture is that Adam had a freewill.

God brought the animals to Adam so that he could give them a name. Adam by his own free will gave each animal a name, Genesis 2:19, 20.

Adam and Eve by their own free will sinned against God, Genesis 3:6.

What do you think that God creates mindless robots?

Then why is it that you can't refute it?

It can be easily debunked- you're conflating moral will with free will. That's what Pelegianism is.

You probably don't even realize it, but a lot of the time you resort to Pelagian notions to attack Calvinism.
