He's not a public figure. And the normal method for accountability is bringing the truth to light, exposing lies, contradictions, hypocrisy, etc., not holding something over someone's head. Should media companies make a habit of holding information in exchange for behavior they believe to be good?

People who are menaced by the truth of their abhorrent behavior coming out probably should be. I would bet that he's quite relieved about the deal he got from CNN. People spread hate thinking that they're anonymous, but once in a while their mask slips, and I think that's too the good. These communities are mushrooms, for right now, and I think it's worth it not letting them bloom into the light.

I don't disagree about there being potential for good in this.
