Bob Enyart Interviews John Lofton

This is the show from Thursday June 28th, 2007.

BEST QUOTE OF THE SHOW:
Bob Enyart: People all over the country ask us how is it that Bob Enyart Live (on 1 radio station and the internet) does research and gets the rulings and the records of these nominees when Focus on the Family with a one hundred and fifty million dollar annual budget and a whole public policy department, lawyers on staff, judicial analysts, they don't know. And the truth is they didn't know, they don't know and they don't want to know.

John Lofton: Exactly

Bob Enyart: They do not want to know how pro-abortion these Republican nominees are. They don't want to know. And that's because their committment is to party politics. It's not to thou shall not murder. They have relegated that to a lower concern.

John Lofton: All right, think about this for a minute as to why everything you just said is true. All most all of these Christian leaders, (so-called) in Christian organizations, are not Christians first. They are Republican party cheerleaders. Now, think about what the cheerleader does. First of all, most cheerleaders in most games have their back to the game. They don't see what's going on. They don't care because they're there to cheer. See? They're not cheering on the basis of merit on an individual play. They're certainly not researching the plays. And even if their team runs to the wrong goal they probably don't know it. They're not facing the game. They are there to mindlessley cheer their team.

SUMMARY:

Bob Enyart interviews John Lofton: of TheAmericanView.com. John Lofton reported two years ago on the false reporting of Life News and Wyoming Right to Life President Steven Ertelt, which was repeated in an act of very poor journalism by World magazine's Lynn Vincent.

For those who have followed our coverage on the Partial-Birth abortion ruling, you're aware that Lynn Vincent's false Jayson-Blair report on the PBA ruling remains one of the poor examples of journalism that has kept Christians in the dark about what this ruling actually does.

* Please email: publisher Joel Belz and ask him to please print a retraction of the Lynn Vincent's entire inaccurate and terribly misleading article.

Instructions: If you'd like to do this, you can email the entire KGOV.com show summary from June 20th (including this link: http://www.kgov.com/bel_56kbps/20070620; just highlight the text on the page with your mouse, copy [Ctrl-C], and then paste [Ctrl-P] into the body of your own email, and then copy and paste all the email IDs below into the To: field of your message. Thank you! If World prints a retraction, we will remove this request from our archives, so if you are reading this, that means they have still not corrected the record.

Lofton's a smart guy, gotta give him credit, and he's on the ball on this issue.

Quick aside--some years ago Otto Scott commented that becoming a Christian was the worst thing ever to happen to John Lofton. Both interesting gentlemen in person, anyway.:chuckle:

I love both of their writings. Do you know why Otto Scott said that?

As he put it Lofton was a pleasant, easy going fellow pre-conversion and turned into a real unpleasant guy after the fact. That's a paraphrase, considering Scott's turn of phrase was slightly saltier.:chuckle:

And yes, the late Mr. Scott is a man I hold in high esteem.

The first time Enyart interviewed Lofton a few years ago I tried to warn Bob ahead of time to be ready for a battle. I wasn't able to get him on the phone in time. The interview turned into a war.
