ECT ACTS 18:8 SAYING TO US !!

Hi to all and Acts is a transition book and without it , it explains where GRACE began and see the DEMISE of Israel !!

But Cripus , the ruler of the Synagogue , believed ( in ) the LORD with his whole house , and many of the Corinthians hearing , were Believing and were being BAPTIZED !!

#1 By the time Acts chapter 18 was written , Paul was already going on his third missionary journey in Acts 18:23 and Acts 21 17 !!

#2 , And it was not only Caripus , but also Gaius that were BAPTIZED !!

#3 , And here in Acts 18:8 , what kind of BAPTIZO is taking place in Acts 18:8 ?

#4 , I believe it was NOT water at all !!

#5 We see that they believed in the Lord , NOT at PENTECOST but believed some 13-15 years later !!

#6 , So this BAPTIZO / BAPTIZING was like what Paul did in Acts 19:6 and Paul laying his hands on them , the Holy Spirit came upon them and they were speaking IN GOLLOSIA /LANGUAGES and prophesying !!

37 , These Jews were not saved by GRACE , because The Greek BELIEVED is in the IMPERFECT TENSE and that means that this KIND of BAPTIZO / baptism STOPPED at the end of Acts 28:28 !!

#8 The next Greek word is WERE BAPTIZED is also in the Greek IMPERFECT TENSE that was in operation and than also STOPPED in Acts 28:28 !!

Heb 6:2 all people not under the LAW are to FORSAKE the teaching or Doctrines of the ELEMENTARY PRINCIPLES of Christ and the DOCTRINES of BAPTISMS which where MANY in the Plural !!

Only a Dispensationalist can understand what I have written as we understand Paul and the Revelation of the MYSTERY , IN Rom 16:25 and 26 and Col 1:25 and 26 !!

Interesting, we know Israel's King and Savior said to his apostles, "Receive the Holy Spirit."

Looks like Jesus' apostles knew the mystery.

Wrong. Receiving the Holy Spirit by the laying of hands IS NOT being baptized "in the name of" Jesus.

In Acts 19 you are reading into it what you want and you are mixing up the order. The order is baptized "in the name of Jesus" then laying of hands. "they were baptized into the name of the Lord Jesus. 6 And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Spirit came on them; It doesn't say "when Paul laid hands on them they were baptized". How can the baptism come before the laying of hands if that is what does the baptizing?
They were not baptized (G907) "in the name Jesus" so they needed to be. When they "were" THEN he lays hands on them.

We can look at another instance to see the same order.
In Acts 8 they were baptized(G907) "in the name of Jesus" but hadn't received the Holy Spirit. John and Peter come from Jerusalem to "lay hands on them" so they would receive the Holy Spirit. No mention of being baptized again. John and Peter didn't ask them what kind of baptism they received and we don't see them being baptized "in the name of" Jesus because they had been properly baptized, "in the name of Jesus".

Someone said, "Hi and when Paul laid his hands on the 12 disciple in Acts 19:6 , they receive the POWER of Holy Spirit and the Indwelling of the Holy Spirit ONLY HAPPENS under the preaching of the MYSTERY !!"

I suspect what this means is a mystery, maybe a mystery beyond understanding, maybe beyond comprehension.

They experienced Acts 2:38.

1. They had already repented (John the Baptist's ministry was all about repentance)

2. They were baptized in Jesus' Name

3. And when Paul laid his hands on them the received the Holy Ghost. Just like Acts 2.

Acts 2:38-39
Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

Hi and in Acts 10:48 Cornelius was baptized in the NAME OF THE Lord !!

Yes they were AFTER receiving the Holy Spirit and in WATER.
47 Can any man forbid the water, that these should not be baptized, who have received the Holy Spirit as well as we? 48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ.

Being baptized "in the name of" and receiving the Holy Spirit, two different things.

dan p

No change in formula.

Do you believe they are one?

Was anyone in scripture baptized in all three names?

Yes you are right that they did receive the Holy Spirit but you are combining two different things. They were(past tense) first baptized "in the name of" Jesus and THEN after Paul laid hands on them they received the Holy Spirit.

Pentecost was different because they got it straight from God. Everyone else except Cornelius got it from having hands laid on them.
Acts 8:18 Now when Simon saw that through the laying on of the apostles’ hands the Holy Spirit was given, he offered them money,

I believe that only in special situations people received the Holy Spirit from God.

Here Paul wants to impart spiritual gifts but he can't do it without being there.
Rom. 1:11 For I long to see you, that I may impart unto you some spiritual gift, to the end ye may be established;

Hi and in Acts 10:47 and that verse clearly stated , that those had HANDS LAYING ON them RECEIVED HOLY SPIRIT just as we also , and just points to PENTECOST !!

Do you keep the FEAST of PENTECOST , the Sabbath , or Sacrifices , and IF you do not , because you are NOT a Jew !!

And THEY WERE is not in the Past tense BUT the AORIST TENSE points back to PENTECOST and NOT to the Dispensation of the GRACE OF God BUT the word BELIEVED in the only word that is in the Greek AORIST TENSE , which is the Past tense and the other 3 verbs are in the Present tense and the other 2 are in the IMPERFECT TENSE , which are BELIEVED and WERE BAPTIZED and that THAT BAPTISM START but then IT STOPPED like at Acts 28:28 !!

dan p

Only in the DanP version. Again, you're reading into the bible what you want to see.

If you look at the chapter 11, Peter says it fell on the Gentiles just like it did them "at the beginning." That's what he meant by "just as we also" in 10:47. The apostles didn't have hands laid on them.

15 And as I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell on them, even as on us at the beginning.

I don't see LAYING HANDS anywhere in Acts 10.

Hi and have you wondered ,who else had the authority IMPART the Holy Spirit ?

Anyone with the Holy Spirit can impart God's Spirit to others by the laying on of hands based on a person's repentance and baptism.

In 1 Timothy 5:22 NET Paul cautions us, "Do not lay hands on anyone hastily and so identify with the sins of others. Keep yourself pure."

Hi and give a verse for your first paragraph ?

The verse in 1 Tim5:17-22 means that a person has to be seasoned DISPENSATIONLLY before elevating any one to be an Elder or Pastor !!
