Britain has never been socialist...we know we live here, in the 80's when the lefties took over the Labour party Labour didn't get so much as a sniff of government even though the Tories under Thatcher were hated like no other modern government.

There has NEVER been a communist mp. Labour only wins when they come back to the centre. Americans are politically brainwashed in this matter.

Labour were certain to win in '92 until pillock Kinnock did this
Pillock Kinnock loses Labour the 92 election

What would you call all of those "cradle to grave" social programs?

You mean like my grandparents struggling to live on a pension after working for at least 60 years (from around 16)...

I like how we're commenting on another nation's politics, it seems some don't like it here in reverse, the difference is familiarity - we're not drowning.

So you're not arguing that England is a socialist state?

Both Arthur Brain and LMOHM are from England, hence the reason I'm commenting on another nation's politics.

The US is going into the sewer just as fast as England is. Obviously you're not familiar with economics, or you'd be concerned with national debt. Here's Great Britains:

I wouldn't mind you commenting on another nations politics if you actually knew something about it....

Benefits and healthcare are not responsible for the state of the economy. In case you hadn't noticed there's been a global recession in the last few years.

Come to think on it the current prime minister here is slashing benefits and forcing sick people back into the jobs market. You'd probably love him...

=S why would my grandparents be struggling on a pension if it was a socialist state?

Feel free, I've just seen many comments that say things like "tend your own lawn" and various other things meaning keep your nose out.

I appreciate your presumption, it does you no merit. As for national debt... I'm convinced you're the one dragging others into the sewer with your heedless financial sector.

Your comment is a real headscratcher, OBVIOUSLY I'm not familiar with economics...?

I at least wait for you to show your ignorance, please extend me the same generosity.

What some don't seem to understand is that those of us who oppose the use of tax money for such are merely in opposition to the government doing for us that which we can do for ourselves, as lmohm has demonstrated we are perfectly capable.

We can help our friends and neighbors who are truly in need; we don't need the government to do that.

This is true, the problem is government.

the government collects money from us, an then charities cry out for money to help the instant needy, an then people arive at the seen of poverty an give personally out of their own hand into the Hand of the needy that can't see any aid arriving in the distance. :)

TI bet, he vatican will watch its own Nation go hungry an watch the world race into help.
