1 John is the only checklist or test or confirmation in the Bible that one is "saved." It was written so that one could know that he is saved. If you conform 100% to the precepts of 1 John then one can know that he is saved.

Billwald--Your post #3 is excellent! Regeneration preceeds conversion because "the natural man receives not the things of the spirit of God, NEITHER CAN HE KNOW them..." Just as Jesus said: "except a man be born again, he CANNOT see the kingdom of God." (caps mine)

Are you talking about the billwald edition or the real one that includes Paul's epistles?

that if you
  • confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and
  • believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead,
you will be saved. Romans 10:9

Paul's letters are like eaves dropping on one side of a telephone conversation. The other side of the conversation is supplied according to one's theology.

possibly. It is still clear that the Jerusalem Synod didn't trust Paul.

The problem with Christian theology is that it reads the Bible backwards. The canon is the first 5 books. As God demanded, anything that disagrees is wrong. Subsequent writings may be commentaries or may add new information. Jesus as the Messiah would be new information that doesn't conflict.

Do you want to defend that view?
