Born Again: How?

The following two passages prove that no one is born again apart from the gospel:

"Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God...And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you" (1 Pet.1:23,25).

"He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of all he created" (Jas.1:18).​

Believe it or not there are some people on this forum who insist that those who are born again are born again BEFORE they believe the gospel! Those people believe that regeneration precedes faith.

Yes, Jerry. There have been some lengthy debates about those who are dead in their trespasses and sins being incapable of hearing the Word of God in faith unless God first gives them faith, but faith comes by hearing the Word, because hearing comes by the quickening of the Word to the hearer so that they are then a conduit of faith through which God's grace can flow.

Sometimes the Word is heard but because the heart is packed hard, or stony, or weedy it fails to be fully productive. Coming to faith in Christ through hearing the Word of God leads to a lifetime of worship, but not everyone goes the distance.

Col 1:21-23 And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now has he reconciled (22) In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight: (23) If you continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which you have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister;

By the Spirit. Christ the Logos of God sends His Spirit to give new life from Him. The Spirit works in concert with Christ Jn 5:21

For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth them; even so the Son quickeneth[gives life] whom he will.

The Spirit carries it out Jn 6:63


It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

Over in 1 Peter being born again of the Word of God is not the Gospel, its Christ the Logos of God 1 Pet 1:23

23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

ἀναγεγεννημένοι οὐκ ἐκ σπορᾶς φθαρτῆς ἀλλὰ ἀφθάρτου διὰ λόγου ζῶντος θεοῦ καὶ μένοντος εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα

Then in 1 Peter 1:25

But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.

The word rema is used instead of logos in Vs 23 Rema is the spoken word of God which is preached

τὸ δὲ ῥῆμα κυρίου μένει εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα τοῦτο δέ ἐστιν τὸ ῥῆμα τὸ εὐαγγελισθὲν εἰς ὑμᾶς

So one is forst born of the Spirit out of the Logos, then the Gospel rehma is preached to them. Birth of the Spirit came first !

Man naturally cannot hear [spiritually] the words of God Jn 8:43

Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word.

Cannot denotes inability !

Then Jesus tells us who does hear His Words Jn 8:47

He that is of God heareth God's words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.

He that is born out from God is he that hears the words of God.

The source I use has the word rhema for word in 1 Pet 1:25

In Acts 16:14 Lydia by name , whom the LORD HAD OPENED THE HEART >

And in verse 15 was BAPTIZED / BAPTIZO , and was to me a JEW !!

2 And LYDIA did what is written in 2 Cor 3:15 and then verse 16 kicks in !!
