Sometimes I wonder why local governments even bother to issue curfews, because curfews don't stop the roaches from coming out of the woodwork.
But I guess even roaches deserve fair warning.
I wish I'd kept the link to this picture, but it was an aerial photograph of D.C., taken on that day. It was shocking to see the columns of smoke rising up from the flames of dozens of arsonists' fires, several of which were quite thick, some within just a couple of blocks of our capital's historic landmarks.
The specific crowd that was forcefully dispersed for the president's photo-op may have been peaceful, but I have noticed that many crowds of so-called "peaceful" protesters willingly provide cover for those in their midst who are not peaceful. In fact, that is their modus operadi in Portland.

I, a white woman, have not experienced having my family members beaten, shot or murdered because of my skin color. However, IF I were in the shoes of the family members, my last concern would be the health and welfare of the thugs in blue OR the GOP and their fan base of white nationalists who urge them on ...

at the point at which they chose to disregard that order, they became un-peaceful
the force with which they were dispersed was measured, which disappointed many, i'm sure, as they were hoping for better pictures of "abuse", a better story to sell to morons like you
If I were in the shoes of the family members of those protesters, I would be roundly castigating them for their foolishness, punctuated by several cuffs to the ear, and telling them to get back to their jobs and their families
Yes there is a but. Many crowds of D.C. protesters were not peaceful. And many of those that made pretense to being peaceful were actively providing cover for those who absolutely were not peaceful, as has been happening in Portland every night for nearly 3 months now. And if the D.C. protesters were told by law enforcement to disperse and they did not, then they only got what they asked for.
Lots of White people have been victimized by Black criminals just for being White. If you have never experienced such, consider yourself privileged. And then check your privilege.
