Luke 8

5 A sower went out to sow his seed: ...

6 And some fell upon a rock; and as soon as it was sprung up, it withered away, because it lacked moisture.

9 And his disciples asked him, saying, What might this parable be?

11 Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.

13 They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away.

Those that wither away are those who, having believed fall away.

And for any seed that germinates and withers away, THAT'S IT.

:rolleyes: Another thread by a believe notter.

2 Corinthians 4:3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:

2 Corinthians 4:4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

Those in Matthew, Mark, Luke and John had to endure to the end to be saved. Matthew 10:22 KJV, Matthew 24:13 KJV.

PTL, Christ endured to the end for us!

Romans 4:25 Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.

Philippians 2:8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

The good news of Christ (which is also the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth Romans 1:16 KJV is; that Christ died for our sins and that He was buried and rose again the third day!

1 Corinthians 15:1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;

1 Corinthians 15:2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.

1 Corinthians 15:3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;

1 Corinthians 15:4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

When one trusts the Lord after hearing and believing the word of truth, the gospel of our salvation, they are saved and sealed!

Ephesians 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

Ephesians 1:14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

It is by grace then, that ye are ye saved through faith!

Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

Ephesians 2:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

That's it until the second resurrection when the rest of the dead live again freed of previous sin.

Hi Jamie

Those raised in the 8M are those who fell by the way side. They never had a chance to accept Christ. All others had their one and only chance. When a seed germinates it does something with that chance or THAT'S IT!

5 A sower went out to sow his seed: and as he sowed, some fell by the way side; and it was trodden down, and the fowls of the air devoured it.

9 And his disciples asked him, saying, What might this parable be?

11 Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.

12 Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved.

OSAS...

Before debating the "always saved" part, can we address the "once saved" part? As in, first believing and being regenerate is not synonymous with "saved." That's confusing the beginning of the journey with the end.

As parables and allegories go, I think Pilgrim's Progress explains it well. You enter at the wicket gate... and then you have a long journey ahead of you before you reach that heavenly city.

The first resurrection is only for those who are ready for the kingdom. The parable of the ten virgins reveal that not all who are called will be ready.

...to God the Judge of all, to the spirits of just men made perfect (complete). (Hebrews 12:23 NKJV)

Not everyone God calls is made complete in this lifetime.

And Christian on his pilgrimage faced many temptations to quit, and met other Christians who did quit e.g. Backslidden and TURN-A-WAY who dwelt in the town of Apostasy.
