General advice: early on, when people are just getting a sense of who you are, keep to brief contributions in other's threads, don't post links and don't rise to bait. Some will test you on he latter point. Especially if your politics isn't from and of the strongly conservative variety.
It's a good place. There's humor, debate, discussion to be had and friendly and not so amiable people to meet. It takes a little while to get your feet under you. Don't be discouraged if you see more of the pot stirrers and challengers early.
