Homosexuality is: forbidden (Lev. 18:22), considered an abomination (1 Kin. 14:24), punishment for (Lev. 20:13), unclean (Rom. 1:24, 26, 27). :vomit:

OK, the death penalty was pretty obviously specific to OT Israel. Not relevant to the New Covenant.

Everything else you said is correct but the death penalty for homosexuality seems to be clearly an OT thing. You never see any support for it in the NT.

Correct. This is why the extreme Christian Right is cultic, because they carry over old covenant principles into the new covenant dispensation. In this way they are no different than the Muslims which are also cultic.

God ALONE judges the sexually immoral (1 Cor. 5:9-13).

New covenant Christians speak nothing but the words of eternal life.

I would have hoped this would at least turn them into paleocons with a decent foreign policy. I guess not, considering the comments in the Israel vs Syria thread:cry:

The Muslims want to kill us for our freedoms, let's go kill them to stop them from killing us for our freedoms, because we want to be the only ones who get to take away your freedoms

end sarc/

I'd say that that was the same exact thing they're saying over there, but it isn't. They're attacking us because they don't like our imperialism. It has nothing to do with anyone's freedom.

And yeah, its definitely cultic. The Bible is very clear, Christians aren't supposed to be busybodies, nor are they supposed to strive with any man who hasn't harmed him (Or someone else, by implication.) The only exception to general principles like this are specific divine commands in specific circumstances, which can only be applied to the situations for which the commands are delivered. God sometimes commanded that the Israelites kill every man, woman, and child, that doesn't change the fact that to do that when God DOES NOT tell you to do so is murder,

Same thing with killing gay people. God told ancient, theocratic Israel to do that. There's nowhere we're commanded to do that in the NT or the New Covenant.

The New Testament principle for dealing with believers who do that is to throw them out of the church and ostracize them. For nonbelievers, we're supposed to eat with them and evangelize to them. Nothing there about government....
