How the Gospel Interprets the Bible

The word "Gospel" means good news. The good news is that Jesus in our name and on our behalf has offered to God the Father a life of perfect obedience according to his Holy Law, and then atoned for our sins and the sins of the whole world, 1 John 2:2.

It is because of the doing and the dying of Jesus that we can now stand before God's Holy Court as Justified. That is the good news.

Did Judas preach the good news, gospel, detailed in 1 Cor. 15:1-4 KJV? Did Judas preach that "Jesus in our name and on our behalf has offered to God the Father a life of perfect obedience according to his Holy Law, and then atoned for our sins and the sins of the whole world, and that it is because of the doing and the dying of Jesus that we can now stand before God's Holy Court as Justified?".

And not one mention of 1 Cor. 15:1-4 KJV, which defines the foundation of gospel of Christ-the dbr.

Quite telling, as Pate continues his sloppy treatment of, cavalier attitude towards, the book.

1 Corinthians 15:1-4 does not really tell us what the Gospel is.

The Gospel is that work that Jesus did in our name and on our behalf that justifies the ungodly, Romans 4:5 and reconciles us and the world unto God, 2 Corinthians 5:18, 19.

Yes, it does, Pate. You lied. And quite irrelevant, as you sloppily handle the book. Any alleged "good news," gospel, that does not have, as its foundation, as laid out in 1 Cor. 15:1-4 KJV, ...

The Death
The Burial
The Resurrection

...............of the Lord Jesus Christ, is not the gospel of Christ, Pate.

You hurt the cause of Christ, with your cavalier, sloppy handling of the book. Shut up.You did not even reference 1 Cor. !5:1-4 KJV, and you are going to pose as if your a qualified teacher of the scriptures, and "the" gospel?

Let qualified members of the boc take over. Shut up, and take your seat. I'm tired of your mangling of doctrine, as is most of TOL.

There is no detail of the Gospel in 1 Corinthians 15:1-4.

Judas died before the Gospel was made known to the disciples on the day of Pentecost.

So, the 12 did not know of "the Gospel" until Pentecost? What was this "the gospel of the kingdom" they were told to preach, by the Master, before Pentecost, then, if they did not know of this "the Gospel" you reference, until after the dbr, at Pentecost?

Well?

The Gospel of the Kingdom is the good news that the King has arrived.

The Gospel that justifies the ungodly Romans 4:5 and reconciles us and the world unto God 2 Corinthians 5:18, 19. was not made know to the disciples until Pentecost. The same Gospel was revealed to Paul in Galatians 1:11,12 in much more detail.

Simple question.

No, Judas hung himself. The only Gospel that the disciples preached before Pentecost was the Kingdom Gospel, which was the good news that the King had arrived.

They did not preach the Gospel that justifies the ungodly, Romans 4:5 and reconciles us and the world unto God, 2 Corinthians 5:18,19, until after Pentecost.

You have an abusive spirit that is not becoming to you.

So, you agree, that "the gospel of the kingdom," is not equivalent to the Gospel that justifies the ungodly-1 Cor. 15:1-4 KJV, and thus, if we are rational, reasonable (Isaiah 1:18 KJV) people, there is more than 1 piece of good news/gospel, in the book-the context tells us what good news/gospel is in view. Thus, Judas preached "the gospel of the kingdom," the good news of the coming kingdom, but not the gospel of 1 Cor. 15:1-4 KJV, per..............

Matthew 10 KJV

1 And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples(including Judas-my note), he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.

2 Now the names of the twelve apostles are these; The first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother;

3 Philip, and Bartholomew; Thomas, and Matthew the publican; James the son of Alphaeus, and Lebbaeus, whose surname was Thaddaeus;

4 Simon the Canaanite, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him.

5 These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not:

6 But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

7 And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.

8 Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.

Luke 9 KJV
1 Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases.

2 And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick.

3 And he said unto them, Take nothing for your journey, neither staves, nor scrip, neither bread, neither money; neither have two coats apiece.

4 And whatsoever house ye enter into, there abide, and thence depart.

5 And whosoever will not receive you, when ye go out of that city, shake off the very dust from your feet for a testimony against them.

6 And they departed, and went through the towns, preaching the gospel, and healing every where.

Thanks for the concession.

The very fact that Christ "died for our sins" was a mystery until given by revelation of Jesus Christ to and through Paul and Paul tells us why. There's no scriptural doubt about it. Why did you just ignore what saith the scripture concerning the gospel of YOUR salvation and it being mystery? You didn't hear that "Christ died for our sins" from John! You got it from Paul if you preach it at all. And FYE-John is an apostle TO Israel, not TO us. What John puts forth is written in a tribulation sense looking forward to the blotting out of sins, just as Peter would preach. Neither of them had anything to do with us or the good news of our salvation!

1 Corinthians 15:1-4 does not really tell us what the Gospel is.
Don't be silly. Paul declares it as the very gospel he preached, "by which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved,..." And goes on to tell us the WHY of the CROSS: "how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures (1 Corinthians 15:3-4 KJV).

It most certainly tells us WHAT is the good news of our salvation! Now, preach it as what it is, the power of God (1 Corinthians 1:21 KJV) that others can be saved when they hear the Lord after hearing and believing it (Ephesians 1:13-14 KJV)!

You're right about 1 Cor. 15: 1-4.

For it is merely a referencw to all that Paul had actually preached when preaching the gospel of Christ.

Case in point, with Jews, he would first lay out through their Scriptures, that Jesus had been their Prophesied Christ.

He would then go into how His death, burial and resurrection had made it possible for them to be justified by faith.

He would then follow that with what had become of their Prophesied hope.

And so on....

In contrast, he would not go into all that in that same way, with the Gentiles.

Rather, he would start off with Who God was, and how they had ended up without Him, followed by how that He was now calling them and Who Christ was, and what His role was in all that, and so on.

1 Cor. 15: 1-4 is actually Romans 1:17-3:30 in a very, very summarized form - because he was addressing those whom He had long since laid all that out to.

This is sort of like how one leads an Atheist to the Lord.

In their case, another step is needed - proving first, the Bible Itself, followed by proving God to them, and so on.

Same is the case with other groups; where they are at determines what the first steps and gospel information will be beyond the simple "Christ died for your sins..."

So, yeah, I'd have to agree with your statement.

In the spirit of Rom. 14:5 towards you, Robert - in memory of Rom. 5: 6-8 - in each our stead.

Your problem is that you don't know what the Gospel is, here is a clue.

The Gospel is that work that Jesus did in our name and on our behalf that justifies the ungodly, Romans 4:5 and reconciles us and the world unto God, 2 Corinthians 5:18, 19.

Do you believe that Jesus did that? Do you believe the Gospel?

All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable...(2 Timothy 3:16-17 KJV). It means what it says, as it says it and to whom it says it. It's all written FOR our learning (Romans 15:4 KJV), but it's not ALL written TO us or about us.

The form of sound words of Romans through Philemon (2 Timothy 1:13 KJV) is written directly TO the church, the Body of Christ (Ephesians 1:23 KJV, Ephesians 5:30 KJV, Colossians 1:24-29 KJV). That’s us. Anything outside of Romans through Philemon is to Israel past and future.

We don't exactly know what Peter preached, but we do know that it was accompanied by the Holy Spirit.
We know what Peter preached: a murder indictment to all the house of Israel that they had murdered their Messiah, the Lord Jesus Christ, but that God hath raised Him up!(Acts 2:22-36 KJV). Peter did NOT know or preach the gospel of OUR salvation; how that "Christ died for our sins" as the power of God. He didn't even know it as that truth was a mystery. Paul tells us that it was and why (Romans 16:25-27 KJV, 1 Corinthians 2:6-8 KJV).
And you have the audacity to say that neither one of them had anything to do with the Gospel?
Neither one of them had anything to do with a mystery gospel anymore than they had anything to do with us Gentiles! Paul is the apostle of the Gentiles (Romans 11:13 KJV, 1 Timothy 2:7 KJV, 2 Timothy 1:11 KJV) given the gospel by which we are saved (Galatians 1:11-12 KJV, 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 KJV)/the dispensation of the gospel (1 Corinthians 9:17 KJV) and the dispensation of the grace of God to us-ward ("you-ward" Ephesians 3:1-9 KJV). We are to follow Paul in doctrine (1 Corinthians 4:15-16 KJV, 1 Corinthians 11:1, 2 Timothy 2:2, 2 Timothy 2:7-8) not John or Peter (Galatians 2:7 KJV).

God's Truth

The whole Bible is about Jesus Christ and his Gospel. In the Old Testament we see God bringing forth a people and a nation from whom the savior of the world would come. God chose Patriarchs, prophets and others to reveal his plan of salvation. The Old Testament saints were saved and justified by faith in God's promise of a savior.

"Abraham believed God and it was counted unto him for righteousness" Romans 4:3.

There is a thread that runs through the Old Testament concerning God's promise of a savior. Many of the Jews looked forward to seeing God's promise of a savior, but died without ever seeing it become a reality, Hebrews 11:39. They were saved and justified by faith. They looked forward to seeing the savior. We look back. It is much easier to look back than it is to look forward. We have the whole revelation of Jesus Christ and his Gospel in the New Testament.

God's promise of a savior becomes a reality in the New Testament books of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.

"For unto you is born this day in the city of David a savior, which is Christ the Lord" Luke 2:11.

The long awaited savior finally arrives, but not many knew who he was, nor did they know what his purpose was, John 1:12. The apostles knew who he was, 1 John 1:1-4. But even some of them did not know what his purpose was until the day of Pentecost. Acts chapter 2 is the big reveal. For the very first time the Gospel comes into the world in the power of the Holy Spirit. The lowly disciples are transformed into powerful preachers of the Gospel, Acts 4:18-20. Pentecost gave birth to the New Testament church. Nothing is the same after Pentecost. The apostles went everywhere preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Thousands and thousands of Jews are born again by the word of God (the Gospel) 1 Peter 1:23 and become witnesses for Christ and his Gospel.

WHAT IS THE GOSPEL?

The Gospel is that work that Jesus did in our name and on our behalf that justifies the ungodly, Romans 4:5 and reconciles us and the world unto God, 2 Corinthians 5:18, 19. In the Gospel Jesus comes into the world as God's new Adam and our new humanity, 2 Corinthians 5:17. His mission is to do for us that which we cannot do for ourselves. By his righteous sinless life he offers to God the Father a life of perfect obedience according to his Holy Law. Jesus is the end and the fulfillment of God's law, Romans 10:4.

That was not enough. Something had to be done about our sins and the sins of the whole world,

"For he has made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him" 2 Corinthians 5:21.

In Jesus Christ we have been justified, sanctified and redeemed, 1 Corinthians 1:30. We now stand before God as holy and complete in Jesus Christ, Colossians 2:10. If the Bible is read in the light of this historical Gospel of Jesus Christ it will make sense. If you try to add your religion to the Bible, it will not make sense.

Abraham OBEYED God BEFORE the scripture speaking of Abraham's faith:

Genesis 12:1
Now the LORD said to Abram, "Go forth from your country, And from your relatives And from your father's house, To the land which I will show you;

See how Paul speaking to the Hebrews about how Abraham OBEYED:

Hebrews 11:8 By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going.

And even after Abraham obeyed and had faith, his faith was TESTED.

Read here how James hearing about the misunderstanding of faith alone, explains that Abraham had to also obey:

James 2:20 You foolish man, do you want evidence that faith without deeds is useless? 21 Was not our ancestor Abraham considered righteous for what he did when he offered his son Isaac on the altar? 22 You see that his faith and his actions were working together, and his faith was made complete by what he did.

The gospel is that we no longer have to get circumcised and sacrifice animals just to go to an earthly temple where God's Spirit was, for since Jesus, we only have to have faith that his blood cleans us OF THE SINS WE REPENT OF and we become the temple.
