Taking the life of a criminal who has committed a capital crime is a good thing for a government to do.
Taking the life of an innocent child is wrong for anyone, government or not.
And the verse says "thou shall not murder," not "thou shall not kill."

Yes, but there is the nub of your problem. A foetus was not considered a person until first breath and even then was not counted one until 3 months had elapsed.

It is a potential human which becomes an actual human at birth, given that fully 50% of fertilised ovum self-abort before the first trimester it cannot be any other way. Otherwise every miscarriage is an abortion.

A Zygote/ Embryo / foetus is by definition a potential human rather than an actual one.
You misread my question. I didn't ask, "Is the fetus a human," I asked, "Is the fetus human."

I answered your question. The foetus is a potential human being. No one is arguing it is not alive.
