This question concerns the view count of youtube videos.

When we embed a youtube video in one of our posts here, does watching it in that post make the view count of the video increase?
Or does one have to watch the video from the youtube page itself in order for the view count of the video to increase?

I've really never thought about it till now, and I am not sure.

Does anyone know for sure?

According to discussions on the Google product forums, whenever anyone clicks on properly formatted, embedded YouTube player then that click is counted. Autoplayed videos don't count no clicks), and iirc half the video has to be watched in any case.

So, yes, the view count does go up when watched in a post.
At least half of the video must be watched to ensure a view count.
