This discussion doesn't seem to be getting anywhere.
The classical view is as follows:
- Create a list describing what God has to be like.
- Find verses in the Bible that support each item in the list.
- Explain away any verse that does not fit the list.
- Accuse anyone that doesn't agree with your list of trying to make God less powerful.
The Open View is as follows:
- Read the Bible to find out what God presents Himself to be.
- Alter your own understanding of what God presents Himself to be to resolve any apparant conflict between different accounts in the Bible.
- Tell anyone that doesn't agree with what you understand that God presents Himself to be to go to step 1, Read the Bible to find out what God presents Himself to be.
Is this correct?
