The law that God gave to Moses were many things to do and things not to do. The law also included a purification works.

Do you agree and understand so far?

Yes. Clearly so far. I will be offline for tonite, but will read whatever you write as soon as possible tomorrow morning. Looking forward to it.

God gave the law to Moses to give to the people. The law included things to do, and things not to do. The law also included works for the people to do, works for the people to do to clean themselves. Those works to clean one's self are called the purification/ceremonial works.

The people had to do those works, those righteous works to clean themselves, to be sanctified and justified before the Lord.

The people had to do those works to clean themselves just to be able to go the the tent and temple, just to worship God.

These are the purification/ceremonial works the people had to do:

There were cleansing rituals for even sitting where another person sat who had a natural discharge.

Leviticus 15:32 These are the regulations for a man with a discharge, for anyone made unclean by an emission of semen, 33 for a woman in her monthly period, for a man or a woman with a discharge, and for a man who has sexual relations with a woman who is ceremonially unclean.

The blood of animals made the Israelites OUTWARDLY CLEAN.

Hebrews 9:13 The blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a heifer sprinkled on those who are ceremonially unclean sanctify them so that they are outwardly clean.

These were COMMANDED BY GOD ALMIGHTY.

Hebrews 10:8 First he said, "Sacrifices and offerings, burnt offerings and sin offerings you did not desire, nor were you pleased with them"--though they were offered in accordance with the law.

Without the shedding of blood THERE IS NOT FORGIVENESS.

Hebrews 9:22 In fact, the law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.

Leviticus 17:11 For the life of a creature is in the blood, and I have given it to you to make atonement for yourselves on the altar; it is the blood that makes atonement for one's life.

Read this too to get a more thorough picture of what I will then explain about grace.

Leviticus 17:11 For the life of a creature is in the blood, and I have given it to you to make atonement for yourselves on the altar; it is the blood that makes atonement for one's life.

Exodus 29:38 “This is what you are to offer on the altar regularly each day: two lambs a year old. 39 Offer one in the morning and the other at twilight. 40 With the first lamb offer a tenth of an ephah of the finest flour mixed with a quarter of a hin of oil from pressed olives, and a quarter of a hin of wine as a drink offering. 41 Sacrifice the other lamb at twilight with the same grain offering and its drink offering as in the morning—a pleasing aroma, a food offering presented to the Lord.

42 “For the generations to come this burnt offering is to be made regularly at the entrance to the tent of meeting, before the Lord. There I will meet you and speak to you;

John 1:29 The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, "Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!

Hebrews 9:22
According to the Law, in fact, nearly everything must be purified with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.

After all that talk about the law as given to Moses, I want to back up a little bit and explain about why the Jews were the chosen.

The Israelites are those blood related to Abraham.

God loved Abraham and promised that the Messiah would be a descendant of his.

The Israelites were chosen because they were blood related to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

Deuteronomy 7:8 But it was because the LORD loved you and kept the oath he swore to your ancestors that he brought you out with a mighty hand and redeemed you from the land of slavery, from the power of Pharaoh king of Egypt.

Deuteronomy 4:37
Because he loved your ancestors and chose their descendants after them, he brought you out of Egypt by his Presence and his great strength,

Deuteronomy 9:5 It is not because of your righteousness or your integrity that you are going in to take possession of their land; but on account of the wickedness of these nations, the LORD your God will drive them out before you, to accomplish what he swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

Micah 7:20
You will be faithful to Jacob, and show love to Abraham, as you pledged on oath to our ancestors in days long ago.

The ANCESTORS of the Israelites are ABRAHAM, ISAAC, and JACOB.

The old law was a teaching tool about what was going to come in the future.

Jesus is who was coming.

The old law then was a shadow of Jesus Christ.

Colossians 2:17 These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ.

Hebrews 10:1
The Law is only a shadow of the good things to come, not the realities themselves. It can never, by the same sacrifices offered year after year, make perfect those who draw near to worship.

If you could get over your obedience fetish I think you could preach the gospel. Keep working hard to obey and maybe you'll stumble and fall over your pride.

God did not like it that the Jews would do a righteous act like give a sin offering but not really be sorry for their sins.

However, the old law was NOT based on faith. That means that a person could do those purification/ceremonial works, but not have any faith in God, yet still be made holy for doing the works to purify themselves.

Galatians 3:12 The law is not based on faith; on the contrary, it says, "The person who does these things will live by them."

Some Jews obeyed the law and had faith, and others did the ceremonial works and did NOT have faith.

Now comes the part about grace...

It is not a hard work, it is light and easy and not burdensome.

There is nothing I would rather do than obey God.

Jesus is God's Word means that EVERY THING THAT JESUS SAYS with his mouth...it is the words of God.

Jesus says many words, words about what we should do and not do.

How do you ever get that it is wrong to do those words?

Do you comprehend that your so-called obedience is the filthiest of filthy rags and the stink of a stench in the nostrils of God?

You would believe that evil saying from false teachers without question.

How do you EVER get that obeying God is as a filthy rag?!

The Jews who had to do a righteous act of giving a sin offering, which included offering BLOOD, but God did not like it that they would sin then give a sin offering and not really be sorry for their sins; which made the blood offering as a throw away menstrual bloody rag. Not being truly sorry for the sin is what made the righteous act of sacrificing animals as a filthy rag.

Isaiah 64:6 All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags; we all shrivel up like a leaf, and like the wind our sins sweep us away.

Our righteous act of FAITH in Jesus is a filthy rag if we do not OBEY HIM.

God does not say that our obedience is as a filthy rag.

The Jews used to have to give BLOOD offerings for their sins---so that they could make themselves RIGHTEOUS BEFORE GOD.

God did NOT like it that the Jews would sin, give a BLOOD SIN OFFERING BUT NOT REALLY BE SORRY FOR THEIR SINS, their sins that they kept doing.

Those BLOOD offerings became as FILTHY THROW AWAY, BLOODY MENSTRUAL RAGS to the Lord.
