It wasn't an accusation. Just a question.

I looked at your article, and I think you and the writer of the article are guilty of hyperbole. Are there priests, pastors, and preachers that abuse the Scriptures to intimidate and bully? Yes, I experienced it. I've also experienced the other side where people in these positions are diligently seeking to understand and help others understand the Scriptures. To say every person in these positions does this is just silly.
You may be correct that not every person in these positions does that. But all that I have known did. I'm glad you have met some who please you.

That's unfortunate. Really, it is.

I'm glad you have met some who please you.

It isn't about pleasing me, and maybe this is what concerns me about your assertion. It's about saying what's actually there. Nothing more, nothing less.

I always encourage those that believe that there is untruthfulness in the thread to come forward and refute it. I'm still waiting anna.

As far as defame: Speculating that someone who defends the filthy filthy behavior known as homosexuality is a sodomite (notice how I didn't use the word fag anna, as I know how upset you get when I use that word) is pure speculation based on their defense of said behavior. Defending homoseuxality, i.e. promoting the behavior makes one a homsexualist. No one was "defamed" in the thread anna.

So tell me anna, can a person pick and choose out of the Bible things that meet their social agenda and still call themselves a Christian?

You mean the way you pick and choose which commandments to follow? Your set seems to be missing the ninth.

You didn't answer my question. but here's an answer to yours:

Acknowledging that God's Word is the Truth is not the same as always being able to follow His Word.

You may be waiting for me to come back, but I've already been there on this with you, already called you on it and gotten nowhere.

You lie about people. Plain and simple. That's picking which commandment you want to obey.

Speculating? You outright call people gay that you know are straight. That's lying, and it's defamation.

That's rich, coming from the guy who said I defended homosexuality 24 hours a day. Shall I find your quote?

Acknowledging that God's Word is the Truth is not the same as always being able to follow His Word.
So you admit you lie?

Obviously you know far more about this topic than I do.

I simply told you what is actually there in my own experiences and you assert that I am wrong. I find that rather disingenuous. In fact it is a mild form of bullying. You seem to want me to recant what I have witnessed in my life. Sorry. No sale.

You're a liar. You aren't confused. You aren't mistaken. You're just a liar. I set out more than once something so clear and easy that even someone with a head injury would understand it. You choose to ignore it. But it doesn't excuse it.

You can support the Constitutional right to assembly without supporting every assembly that flows from it. And you can defend the Klan's right to march without sharing a single separate belief they hold.

Now go grow an honest bone and jam it into that body of yours.

It most certainly is not a "mild form of bullying" in any way, shape or form.

Son of Jack doesn't bully.

He's not disingenuous.

He's not asking you to recant anything.

Sorry, no sale.

Gladys your last sentence adds nothing to the reply except animosity, IMHO.
I don't know which is funnier, the insult that begins it while commenting on animosity or your self referential use of humility.

 It's a toss up.

Matthew 5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.

46 For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?

47 And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?

48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

Yes, I have been accused of being pro gay and have also been called a "sexual pervert" here. My daughter went to a Christian College in Indiana which is predominantly Religious Right. She embraced my values about homosexuality being sin until she went to this college.

She said that Christian Right people habitually lied about other students who did not believe exactly as they believed. She saw Religious Right students ridicule a lesbian server at a fast food restaurant. My daughter told her she loved her and a tear rolled down her face.

My daughter turned against my values and started to follow the teachings of gaychurch.org. They teach that homosexuality is not a sin and they base it on the fact that God condemned it only within the context of temple prostitution.

I wanted to win her back. I realized that I had to put away my own bigotry in order to win her back. I put away my bigotry and my daughter noticed it. By this I earned the right to instruct her about homosexuality being a sin. I showed her that temple prostitution included adultery as well as homosexuality. Then I explained to her that the gay church's conclusion that homosexuality is not a sin is false because adultery and incest were also committed in that context.

She changed her mind. It took some time but she is back to the Bible on that which God calls sin. The whole thing was a wake up call to me. I did further research and discovered that most children of the Religious Right embrace gay marriage. I went to talk to my pastor and he confirmed it. He is a conservative PCA pastor. He said that our children are reacting against our bigotry. Then I did all sort of research online and found many conservative pastors and journalists who say that we are losing our children. Many surveys have been done in which our children are asked to define Christianity and they answer, "Christianity is anti gay."

Wow! Our children know very little about Christianity except that it is anti gay.

In the Song Jesus, Friend of Sinners there is a line that speaks to this very thing:

No one knows what we're for only against
When we judge the wounded
What if we put down our signs crossed
Over the lines and loved like You did

I know. There are quite a few here who've been lied about, because apparently the end (the recriminalization of homosexuality) justifies the means (indiscriminate lying and defamation).

It's a kind of 'Christian' utilitarianism.

Thanks for sharing your story. It's definitely thought-provoking.

I hear that quite a bit, ALWAYS from people that defend a lifestyle and agenda that I'm exposing. Again, point out where I've lied, I'll point out where you've been unfaithful to God's Word as a supposed "Christian".

You act like being a homosexual is a bad thing anna. You certainly didn't come across with that message in the thread we're talking about (something about "as long as it's done quietly").

If I were a defender of abortion or pornography, should I be offended if someone called me an "abortionist" or a "pornographer"?

Of course homosexuality is the FILTHIEST behavior known to man (not only is it disease ridden, innocent children are often times tricked into the lifestyle), so I understand how you'd be offended if one of your pagan friends were called that.

aCultureWarrior hangs his head in shame. I forgot that you sleep 8 hours at night.

Come back to the thread anna, I'd love to expose you for what you believe in (and it most certainly isn't God's Word).

My point is that Jesus didn't die on the Cross so that we as sinners had to follow the law to the letter. We should acknowledge the laws of God and do our best to keep them. Not being able to do so doesn't keep us from Heaven. Pick and choosing which laws are right and which are wrong is relativism, and will keep us from entering the Kingdom of Heaven.

Not a claim I would presume to make.

I simply told you what is actually there in my own experiences and you assert that I am wrong.

I'm challenging your experience with my own. It's just as valid as far as experiences go, is it not?

I find that rather disingenuous.

Okay. Whatever you say.

In fact it is a mild form of bullying. You seem to want me to recant what I have witnessed in my life. Sorry. No sale.

I never asked you to recant. I only challenged your claim because I think it is an unfair over-generalization.

OK. Peace. From now on I will be careful to say "those that I know, have seen, have read and otherwise experienced. YMMV."

Out of curiosity:

1. Do you infer from your experience that all Christian leaders act in such a way?

2. Do you attend a church?
