Have you worked out a meaning yet? :plain:

Yes. Some years ago here on TOL. You used to be able to "google" it but not any more. It has not survived TOL's many remakes. I do remember a few of it's tenets.

I do remember that Nonismatists believed that the answer to Cain's question was, "yes".

They reject any and all "isms" while reserving the right to embrace the portions of any that they find useful. This, of course, also requires some sense of irony and humor... being that Nonismatism is yet another "ism".

They also believe that one's understanding of the word of God is an ongoing process and the fact that any two adherent's understanding of said word might differ at any particular point in time was not necessarily a hanging offense. Suffice to say that notion was not readily embraced by all that frequent this establishment.

I do seem to remember an admonition to maintain the purity of Nonismatic thought and not drift into Ultranonismatism or Antinonismatism.

It's been a while. Perhaps other points of Nonismatic faith will surface with further cogitation.

Texasticles - the fortitude of men from the Lone Star state.

It took some texasticles for those men to defend the Alamo!
 I'll file that next to Texicants (Texans who spend inordinate amounts of time telling non Texans about their comparative deficiencies).

How about one for calvinists? They like to misrepresent the gospel, calling it universalism, even though it isn't. And nobody says it is. For example, anything from nang or bedeviled57.

Nang is a self-proclaimed reformednangsterite who is an antiuniversalist and an observer of nickmphenomalism.

(FYI, beloved is not a Calvinist. )

Aren't there any positive ones? It's all bleakansky, and accusantanity around here...

Horsipity: a comment that appears aimed at simultaneously elevating the common perception of the uttering party while lowering the estimation of the other party and/or all concerned.

Use: "That dead fellow sure was being horsipity with Hacksaw Jack there, weren't he."

Targacious: optimistically advancing a helpful point on internet forums with the certainty it will be met and considered in that spirit.

Use: "That banned fellow sure was being targacious with that moderator, weren't he."

gyibly - when a response seems rational but is merely a person falling asleep (or by other means) on their key board

Use: Wow! POTD! :first:

Oh thanks... Really I just wrote that gyibly...

Monstrosity - A ground breaking argument formulated by a person who has never made such a clarity before

Use: Nazaroo has yet to become a monstrosity to current thinking.

Interspecies feces - The act of flinging another species poo for lack of your own

This arose from a very weird and hilarious conversation. I brought up the idea of why are zombie apocalypses always human. Thus arose the chimpanzee zombie apocalypse. And of course, zombies don't poo. So, chimp zombies would have to throw another specie's feces.

Pseudo-Intelli-Poli-Lawyerianist:

A wanna-be lauded, dimly intelligent, politician, lawyer, average know-it-all amalgam. Suffers from opinion-self-inflation, periodically demonstrates hostility towards diversity of opinion (they're the smartest person THEY know). Subtle bratty tantrums in written form, ie 'correction using excessive bloviating'. Regularly starts online conversations that are in disguise examples of 'said personality, character disorder...', likely 'blog', 'tweet', or 'facebook'. Generally have usernames that assuage their need to be 'set apart' from others, aka apparent 'self-outcasting', while simultaneously needing & wanting the approval of others, but only the chosen few. In short, seen as a 'heretic' if you will.

How can you spot a Pseudo-Intelli-Poli-Lawyerianist, the brain & the bottom have swapped locations, overweening bad breath, tout the ability to play any musical instrument with their ears (while underwater). Prefer 'christo-rationalism' over 'genuine spirituality', succumbing to the 'fallen man', the 'Adam' in them.

That's nice but this really isn't the place for your autobiography... :plain:
