President Donald Trump on Tuesday falsely blamed former President Barack Obama for releasing from Guantanamo Bay "122 vicious prisoners" who returned to terrorist activities.

"122 vicious prisoners, released by the Obama Administration from Gitmo, have returned to the battlefield. Just another terrible decision!" Trump tweetedTuesday morning.

But Trump's accusation is inaccurate. As of July 15, 2016, a total of 693 Guantanamo Bay detainees had been transferred — 122 of whom were confirmed to have reengaged in terrorist activities, according to a report from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence.

Of those 122 people, 113 were released under former President George W. Bush. Just nine were released under Obama.

Trump's tweet followed a Fox & Friends segment on a U.S. airstrike in Yemen that killed a former Guantanamo Bay detainee.​

Comey was reportedly “incredulous” when he learned over the weekend that Trump had accused Obama of wiretapping Trump Tower. Out of concern that Trump’s claims could erode institutional confidence in the FBI, as well as because he knew the allegations to be groundless, Comey asked the Department of Justice to join him in debunking Trump’s assertions. The Department of Justice — which is led by Attorney General Jeff Sessions, a staunch Trump ally — has not responded to his requests, which Comey has reportedly found very frustrating.​

Do you understand the difference between an honest mistake due to rushing a story out and deliberately constructing a story shows intention is to mislead and create a narrative rather than inform? Trump is guilty of the first....MSM of the latter.

Do you understand he shouldn't be tweeting stuff he doesn't know is 100% correct? I don't think you do.

Do you understand he shouldn't be tweeting about The Apprentice ratings in the same breath as accusing Obama of illegal wiretapping?

Do you understand he shouldn't be using Twitter to make such a grave allegation (particularly when it appears he has no facts to back it up?)

Does that relieve Obama for his responsibility in releasing the 9? That's all trump was trying to draw attention to. It's irrelevant that somebody else did the same thing too as if that release the former of any responsibility.
