The long nightmare has just begun: Inauguration of a fraud.

Trump, in a brilliant move, has trapped the left in their own scheme. By suggesting that President Obama illegally spied on his conversations, he is forcing the Democrats to either admit Obama broke the law (thus damning his legacy once and for all) or backing down on their obviously false accusations about Russia.

When considering the depths Obama would go to secure his own power or have his way, it's not a big stretch to think he'd abuse his executive authority to spy on Donald Trump. The temptation to uncover a Russian connection would have been too overwhelming, for the man who strongly opposed Trump from the very beginning. Had President Obama discovered a smoking gun, the liberal media would have overlooked whatever steps he took to find it. If he found nothing, he was convinced his cronies in the deep state would have kept their mouths shut.
But clearly someone didn't and let the dirty secret slip to the most dangerous man in American politics: President Trump. Now the House Intelligence Committee will be investigating the allegations in their larger case in Russian involvement during the election. Rest assured, if President Obama was breaking the law to spy on Trump, it will come to light.

Lol and never mind the obvious.

But you seldom do.

As most Trumpers, Hillarites, and Obamites, or whatever, often fail to.

You sir, are far too often...into the joy of proving yourself...in very poor company :chuckle:

I don't recall ever reading or seeing anywhere that Bannon's position was meant to be temporary going in. Where did you read or hear it?....town

Quote and link to it being said by the administration at any time prior to Bannon assuming the seat. Should be easy for you and it would be edifying for those of us who don't recall seeing anything of the sort.

Well, no. I don't watch MSN. I think the last time I saw anything on that network was when Keith still had his show and I still had satellite. I look at a lot of different outlets for news, from the NY Times to the BBC and points in between.
Looking for a post of yours so I can show you the SPLC is not the aboveboard organization you claim. They violate tax law.

Let me know when you get to my favorite ice cream, because I'd like to have that one settled. :plain:

Quick, frequently referential humor aimed to give a chuckle to people with a broad education and cultural exposure. Sure. Though I also do pratfalls to mix it up. :)

So far so good. I omit the timing bit, because it's predicated on a flawed premise, by which I mean your judgement.

I can find some kind of "Entertainment value" in most humor/wit, however, I've yet to find ANYTHING you've ever said, the least bit humorous/witty. I suppose humor/wit is accepted by one's own particular taste. Some enjoy the Three Stooges, Abbott and Costello, Laurel and Hardy, etc. My personal favorites have always been the Marx Brothers, Woody Allen (in his early days,) and Red Skelton. The Marx Brothers were geniuses and ahead of their time. When I was ten years old, (Circa: 1960) I was in the Hospital having my Appendix removed, an hour after surgery I was sitting up watching "The Marx Brothers" (I believe it was, "A Day at the Races" if memory serves?

Anyway, the Nurses came running down the hallway and found me clutching a pillow to my stomach area and laughing my stitches loose while watching "The Marx Brothers." The Nurses thought I was screaming out in pain. To this day I still can watch one of their films (made in the 1930s on) and get a GIANT giggle. A lot of "The Marx Brothers" humor relied on innuendo and adult humor mixed with a wee bit of Slapstick. Their humor/wit was mostly "verbal" however. Red Skelton used "Clean humor" in the Movies he made and his later T.V. show dabbled with a small portion of innuendo. I was told, when he came into a town/city the first place he went was to a Hardware store to purchase some "Props" then, he'd go to a Children's Hospital and entertain the sick kids. He was quite a guy.

Woody Allen was hilarious in "Play it again Sam," "Annie Hall" etc. I saw him perform with his "New Orleans Jazz band" a couple of years ago, it was great. Steve Allen was another favorite of mine. He was a genius when it came to "ad-libbing." I have to admit to a "Guilty Pleasure" and admit that I enjoyed some of Chevy Chases films, such as, "Christmas Vacation" and "Fletch."

I haven't said a thing about the Southern Poverty Law Center on the point, though I've noted them in the past. I don't know how they are about paying their taxes. All sorts of people and organizations have gotten into trouble on the point.

So that, literally, has nothing to do with your claim and my challenge on the point.

What I asked for was a link and quotes to Trump noting Bannon as a temporary appointment to the NSC prior to his placement. You said it was all over conservative media outlets so you can imagine my surprise at how few (by which I mean any) you've produced so far. . . I mean, you had no problem reproducing the party line after the fact and lambasting me for your equally contrived MSM/sheep nonsense.

So did the post press release lead an actual sheep around by the nose or are you more than bluster and assumption? Produce the quotes. I'm always up for recognizing something I missed. All I need is the proof you said was all over your preferred media outlets at the time.

Which by itself should tell you that your valuation is personal and stilted. I'm funny often enough than even some people who don't like me will note it. Anyway, like it/hate it, as with your approach to posting (if after a more literal fashion) I and it aren't going anywhere anytime soon. :)

I enjoyed your walk down humor lane though. I like most of it. Early comedies? Bringing Up Baby and His Girl Friday are gems. They have just about everything you'd want in them and Gran was terrific in both. You can't miss with the Marx Brothers and I also like the Keaton, Chaplin and Loyd films. Allen used Friday more than people realize in his dialogue, the overlaps and timings. You picked the best Chase vehicles. Christmas is a classic and Fletch was the best use of the persona he rode to fame and fortune.

Okay, three levels then :mmph:

I don't think a horse can do it much any other way.
Well, if you've ever been horse bit you know how hard it is to make that funny. :plain:

I seldom get acronyms.
Not my forte either. I mostly prefer tree fortes.

They tend to be way OMH. I get this: UCD puppies? MNO puppies. DR2 Puppies. MR# puppies. OSDR2 puppies! UCM? OICM! DR puppies! Now that my kids are in their teens, I'm a bit embarrassed this is where I'm still at. About 10 years stuck. In ten years, my grandkids might appreciate it, but now its....well...
I'm at sea on that count. And the boat apparently leaks.

Really? Meshak jokes? Really?
Beats me. So that's one way to do it.

This has nothing to do with puppies, does it?
Hush. :plain:

I've had allergies so you'll have to ask someone else if it is bad or not :(
Well, at least if you turn your nose up I won't have to take it personally.

If it is the same word I'm thinking of, I'm reporting you.....again. :Z

Bad storms last night killed my wireless router and my first response to you. :mmph: A shortened version follows, but it isn't the greatest song in the world. This is a tribute. :guitar:
But there's no guarantee that the Senators are specialists so what you posit is not baked into the sauce in any way.
No, it isn't baked in any more than the president being a well connected, older white guy is, but it works out that way most of the time. In the meantime, if you have any ideas I'm interested.

On lesser appointed lights, like the Sec. of Defense (and who doesn't love secretaries?)
He serves for the rest of a lot of young soldiers lives.
He serves at the pleasure of the president. So if you want responsible there vote responsibly.

There's a perfect parallel, the rest of the Federal Judiciary.
How can you posit that the Senate is a good judge because their "Mostly Lawyers" but over look the Judges who are actually........Judges.
It's also the same sort of thing, isn't it? I mean a different appointment, but the same sort of appointment and process on the same occupation, just a wrung below (yes).

You were gnashing at the bit to revisit the EC after a recent election.
If by gnashing you mean I wondered aloud if it was time to revisit the process, but wasn't convinced that it was...that sort of gnashing.

Why is the Senate disparity any less important now?
The president is a representative of the people. As such, I think it's important that he not be the runner up in that particular. Mostly he hasn't been, but lately it's been problematic.

How does being in the Senate make one a peer of the Justice?
It doesn't. Being a lawyer makes you a peer. And a majority of the Senate are just that and tend to be.

Sarah Palin was considered for a Senate seat.
It happens. A lot of people have considered her seat.

On cold readings and good guesses...
You did, just now.
You have to stop hanging out with Chrys or you'll be doing this for a living before you know it.

Unless you just happen to like one of the most popular ice cream flavors, then it's a coincidence.
Or I didn't want to hurt your feelings and I don't like ice cream. But let's go with yours. :)

On Guests...
The whole place is.
Makes you wonder, doesn't it.

Out there we each have thousands of fans who follow us, we make their day sometimes with a well expressed thought or a word of encouragement. We do this not for ourselves, but for others. We know we can't change the world but we might change someones mind., and then there will be at least two of us who think that.
I love an optimist...you know any?

On pratfalls and room temperature...
Low hanging fruit is the sustenance of the short people, who are still people.
I love the little guy. Especially when he's sitting in front of me in a theater.

Just like the rest of us. (except the alarming number of robots around these days)
Had a great conversation with a spambot the other day, by which I mean I got a comfortable pair of shoes out of it...at a surprisingly affordable price.

What do you mean "if"?

Do you think that all of this was Susan Rice's idea?

From The New York Times, April 5, 2017

WASHINGTON — President Trump said on Wednesday that Susan E. Rice, the former national security adviser, may have committed a crime by seeking to learn the identities of Trump associates swept up in surveillance of foreign officials by United States spy agencies, repeating an assertion his allies in the news media have been making since last week.

Mr. Trump gave no evidence to support his claim, and current and former intelligence officials from both Republican and Democratic administrations have said they do not believe Ms. Rice’s actions were unusual or unlawful.

So, we agree on certain things. I'm a child of the 50s and was glued to the T.V. set and the Drive-in/Walk-in Theaters. I learned at an early age that I had a gift for doing Impressions of famous actors, Politicians, and everyday people. That, combined with the gift of a quick-wit helped me become less shy over the years.

I think I've told this one before (true story). Horse bit my cousin.
Cousin went in crying to my 5'0" aunt.
Aunt tied up that horse and spanked it (all 5ft of her) with a twoXfour. That horse couldn't sit down for a week (or before that now that I think about it....has to be a correlation).

Mr. Trump gave no evidence to support his claim, and current and former intelligence officials from both Republican and Democratic administrations have said they do not believe Ms. Rice’s actions were unusual or unlawful.

Those in the know understand that Susan Rice's actions were indeed unusual:

Understand: There would have been no intelligence need for Susan Rice to ask for identities to be unmasked. If there had been a real need to reveal the identities — an intelligence need based on American interests — the unmasking would have been done by the investigating agencies.

The national-security adviser is not an investigator. She is a White House staffer. The president’s staff is a consumer of intelligence, not a generator or collector of it. If Susan Rice was unmasking Americans, it was not to fulfill an intelligence need based on American interests; it was to fulfill a political desire based on Democratic-party interests.

The FBI, CIA, and NSA generate or collect the intelligence in, essentially, three ways: conducting surveillance on suspected agents of foreign powers under the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA), and carrying out more-sweeping collections under two other authorities — a different provision of FISA, and a Reagan-era executive order that has been amended several times over the ensuing decades, EO 12,333.

As Director Comey explained, in answering questions posed by Representative Trey Gowdy (R., S.C.), those three agencies do collection, investigation, and analysis. In general, they handle any necessary unmasking — which, due to the aforementioned privacy obsessiveness, is extremely rare. Unlike Democratic-party operatives whose obsession is vanquishing Republicans, the three agencies have to be concerned about the privacy rights of Americans. If they’re not, their legal authority to collect the intelligence — a vital national-security power — could be severely curtailed when it periodically comes up for review by Congress, as it will later this year.

Those three collecting agencies — FBI, CIA, and NSA — must be distinguished from other components of the government, such as the White House. Those other components, Comey elaborated, “are consumers of our products.” That is, they do not collect raw intelligence and refine it into useful reports — i.e., reports that balance informational value and required privacy protections. They read those reports and make policy recommendations based on them. White House staffers are not supposed to be in the business of controlling the content of the reports; they merely act on the reports.

Susan Rice cannot "unmask" anyone from any intelligence report without consent and cooperation from the issuing agency.

No one said that she has the power to unmask anyone. If you will read the article it speaks of her asking "for identities to be unmasked." But you said nothing which even hints that her actions were not unusual.

If Susan Rice was unmasking Americans

None(NONE)of the operative agencies have expressed any concerns that any request from her was inappropriate in any regard.

But you're welcome to grasp at whatever straw that serves to comfort you.

Those in the know understand that Susan Rice's actions were indeed unusual:
Well, no. Those with an agenda and fingers crossed might hope for it.

“There’s no evidence of any wrongdoing,” Mr. Cuomo said Tuesday on “New Day.” “And in fact, if anything, the NSA asking for identities was a reflection of exactly how much traffic there was involving Trump people and foreign players. The White House [is] blasting the press for another fake scandal being peddled by right-wing media.”

From an article in The Atlantic, April 3:

As Lake notes, nothing he—or anyone else—has uncovered lends credence to President Trump’s outlandish and unsupported claim that Obama ordered surveillance of him at Trump Tower prior to the election. Nor does the new story suggest any illegal behavior on Rice’s part. As with each step in the story, this one offers only a small sliver of information. Many experts seem to think the Bloomberg View story does not imply anything improper or unusual. Others withheld judgment, saying there’s simply not enough information to judge.

“In a situation where there’s incidental collection and it appears that they’re discussing U.S. incoming or current officials, it would not be unusual for a national security adviser to try to understand what it is this foreign government is trying to do to manipulate their position against the U.S.,” said Nada Bakos, a former CIA analyst and national-security commentator. “That’s how the game is played.”
