There seems to be real battle going on within the Democratic party. This problem for the "old Left" is that millennials now make up the largest voting block among Democrats. And a large number of millennials trend towards socialism. AOC speaks their language and people like her will only acquire more political power as the "old Left" retire or die off. The old Left may keep AOC in check for now but in 10 years the socialists and "progressives" will take over the Democratic party.

will the mills be content to join the old democratic party and try to reform it into their own warped image from within?

i think it more likely that they'll seek power under their own organizations, created in manners that are foreign to the old guard

we're talking about a 29 year old twitter user proposing to teach all the old people on capital hill how to use twitter

to me, this is the death knell for twitter - what next gen cadre is going to be happy using tech that all the old folks use?

interesting - i've never been - my dad was stationed there immediately after the war - he was in OCS training to lead a (whatever lieutenant jg's led in ww2 - squad?) in the invasion of the jap mainland - casualty rates were expected to be incredibly high

he was real happy when the japs surrendered

he ended up second in command of a pow camp holding jap prisoners, waiting to be repatriated - keeping them from escaping wasn't the problem, the problem was keeping the filipinos out

they were really interested in getting revenge for the past several years under brutal jap occupation

The Japanese were vicious. They believe in battle to the death and anyone that didn't agree with that philosophy were considered weak.

My wife is Filipino. We are headed there in a couple of weeks. She has not been back to the Philippines since she left in 1972.

Distinctions of language and race help to further indicate cultures which cease to remain exclusive. 'Latin America' as the prime example is a melting pot of Latinos the same as America is a melting pot of Anglo Europeans.
