I don't happen to believe that hell is a part of the Gospel message, and rarely speak of hell unless it's a part of a discussion on a message board. If people come to God out of fear, they won't find Him.

Okay, but for most evangelical preaching there's a 'hell' of some sort at the core of the sermon. 'Turn or burn' is a staple diet of many churches unfortunately even if non literal.
No, I think the flood actually happened. I believe they will all be raised for the Judgment and I trust the Judge of the whole earth to do right. I have some thoughts about what that would be, and it rests on the belief that little is expected from those who have been given little.

Well, let me ask you this. Would you be miffed if unbelievers were to be reconciled to God in the 'afterlife'?

We were created in the image of God. God loves, desires, regrets, and weeps.....we are not unlike HIM, so that "human perspective" actually gives us insight into our Creator. What you say is true which shows that God doesn't wish any to perish. It grieves Him that we refuse to come to Him for eternal LIFE. It's a free gift and we still won't come.

Well, say you threw a party and 62% of the guests you invited didn't show up. Would you permanently shut your door on them for the rest of your life no matter what?

Yeah, a lot of things are preached in church buildings, but it doesn't mean they preach the Gospel.

I wouldn't be miffed at anyone being reconciled to God. I just think the Bible makes it clear that we must turn to God while we have life....not in the "afterlife".

Rather, I throw a party and many don't show up. My door remains open, but the many that didn't show up die before they can attend. The door was open....the invitation had been sent....I even sent many people to remind them and even escort them, but they refused to come. :idunno:

Well thanks for your presumptions and everything but a person can believe and have doubts over doctrine in case that's something you haven't encountered before...

If you want to write all unbelievers off to 'hell' then you have at it.
Doctrine doesn't save. Doctrine is the "and to come unto the knowledge of the truth" part. You need salvation first and the only way you are going to get it is to trust the Lord believing the good news; that Christ died for your sins and that He was buried and rose again the third day (1 Corinthians 15:1-4 KJV). That's why Paul writes that IT is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth (Romans 1:16 KJV). Pretty simple! The moment you trust Him believing it you will be saved.

And I know what it's like to doubt. I was religious, but lost for a very long time. I could not look back in all that time to a time when I trusted the Lord's work in my place for salvation. And then one day, I heard the gospel of Chrit preached in it's simplicity and trusted the Lord believing it. You have doubts about salvation because you know in your heart of hearts that the Lord is real and that eternity is a long time. You know you haven't trusted Him. Trust Him now. God will save you right now, right where you are. You don't have to go anywhere, so anything or necessarily say anything. Trust the Lord believing that His dying on the cross for your sins, being buried and raised the third day is sufficient to save you. I mean, seriously man; just what is it that you are waiting for?

Well, what is the gospel exactly? What's being taught and why? What do you believe hell is?

So...as above really, else what is the gospel about? Isn't it essentially about getting things right in the one flesh and blood existence otherwise it's 'rotting time' or some such?

Supposing all of your guests could still come if you left your door open. Would you leave it so?

So, still with the arrogant presumption eh? Who do you think you are exactly?

Something just occurred to me. If U. is true...if God will have everyone to be saved...why the future tense? Christ's work of redemption is complete, so why hasn't He already regenerated everyone, given faith to all, and got this all over with? What would He be waiting for?

Unanswerable questions, I know.

Would you be miffed if nobody actually suffered eternal 'hell'? Straightforward question and no arrogant presumption intended as you've done with me for example.

Would you feel put out?

How else can limited man discern betwixt good and evil without given (corrective) examples? The damned are simply a necessary evil....literally.

The Gospel of Salvation is the Good News that Christ died for our sins, was buried, and that he rose from the dead....those who confess Him as Lord will be saved....they receive the gift of LIFE (eternal life).

I'm of the opinion that "hell" can mean different things....depending on how and where the word is used. There is also something called the "second death" after the judgment. I'm reluctant to get into the discussion of hell in this thread, since this is about salvation. And the Gospel speaks of salvation.

So...as above really, else what is the gospel about? Isn't it essentially about getting things right in the one flesh and blood existence otherwise it's 'rotting time' or some such?

The Gospel is about salvation....no longer being separated from God as we each have been since we committed our first sin. Sin is what separates us from God, and we all sin.

The door is always open, but the guests can't come once they die.

Dear All,

I wanted to share a post from Husband and Father, on Pg. 1073 of the Creation vs. Evol. thread, Posts #16086-7:

Quote From Husband And Father:

A god who creates man with free will (including the ability to sin and do evil) is not logically impossible.

You may think that any god who creates man must then take responsibility for man's fate. But a god powerful enough to create could create a being who is responsible for himself.

If God managed your fate you would not be a free being. God chose to make men free. Your fate largely depends on choices you make.

God created man and God created choices and God gave man the ability to make choices which have consequences.

God (Deut. 30:19 KJV):
This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live.

I hope some of this helps a bit. It helped me.

Tons Of Love Coming At You!!

Dear All,

I'm saying that God and Jesus, they forgive you, whether you make mistakes or not. But just try to make some good decisions for yourselves. That's all. Hope this helps. Life is a mystery and fun to live, especially if your anchor is God and Jesus, and the Holy Ghost. Life Is BEAUTIFUL!!!

I voted no.

I believe that Jesus Christ came to be water baptized by John taking up the worlds sin, and carried these sins to the cross being judged in our place through his blood. Resurrected anyone who repents and believes in this receives the holy spirit of redemption.

1 John 2:2

All peoples sins have been included in his redemption.
All people must repent and believe to receive the redemption he has given us.

1 John 2:2 KJV is another verse that implies that ALL will be saved

Only to the unlearned who think propitiation means salvation.

Romans 3:25
Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood,

The whole world is reconciled by His death....but there is much more .....which is why we should never go by what one verse might "IMPLY".

Romans 5:10
For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.
