Free Will

A mind set on the flesh and satisfying fleshly desire, according to Paul (note according to 'Paul') cannot,...but when a soul sets its mind on the spirit, it can....'according to Paul'. Thats all you can claim here, contextually speaking, apart from your own personal experience of this, if it be true. Note the whole chapter, Paul continues to instruct/encourage them to walk in the spirit! You didnt answer my last question. You can set your mind (attention/consciousness) on the flesh or the spirit,....its what you attend! - Do you have a choice here? Is Paul just playing word games?

Note also, that Paul by his own words, does not always claim to be speaking for God. He shares his opinions as well. He was but a mortal man.

Evasion! Does Rom 8:8 read

A. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. or
B.
So then they that are in the flesh have a choice to please God.

Lol, again, that is your spirit cohabiting with the spirit of Spurgeon. :rotfl:
Holly Spirit does great work through preaching of men just like your church if you do to one. Meshak doesn't believe in church.

Preachers are allowed according to the Bible

Free will is by it's very definition a doctrine of man.

It is nothing more than a narcotic that inebriates the faculty of the brain which governs theology :rolleyes:
What? Freedom of choice is not a drug homie. Though to follow what is good and right can bring about some natural high. I think hey call it high on life. There is potential and consiquince, neither of which would be warranted or just if we lacked some level of freedom.

peace

I didn't think you would answer that question.

Uhh-hummm, yeah, I already did answer: it took about twenty five minutes to write it out, (double checking pertinent passages as I wrote), but it only took you two minutes to read all of it, one minute to digest what was said, and another minute to reply back with your fabulously crafted response which consisted of the statement, "What you are saying is senseless." That is a total of four minutes and anyone who looks at the size of my post, and when you responded back, (four minutes later), will see that what I say is true. Then, when I strongly hinted at this fact in my next post that followed, (lol), you responded by stating that I was wasting your time, (lololol). Why would I want to waste four more of your precious minutes by spending another half hour writing out another response for you? I do not have a half hour to spend rebutting every four minute segment of your life or the illustrious wording in your wondrous one minute quips you call responding. In fact I am going to say for now that you are not even a real person by the way you interact around here. Yep, you are nothing more than a Calvin flavored drone, not capable of thinking for yourself because you left your will at Calvin's doorstep; and he stepped on it and dragged half of it across the lawn on the bottom of his shoe on his way to the quickymart. :)

Its a simple yes or no. If you say no, then that means man does not have freewill.

Total depravity to me means men don't understand how God knows beginning and end at the same time and how He is there as well. I'm not able to zip around like that.

Of course they can't, it's still a fact, though.

1 Cor. 2:14
But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

Only if you believe in some kind of genetic inheritance of sin, a belief held by some. But if do inherit 'total depravity' from Adam or any of your ancestors via the bloodline, and have some kind of 'original innocence' intact at your birth...then you are only held accountable for your own sins, and to make atonement for those only, by repentance. You cannot blame your sins on anyone else, but yourself. Here the principle of 'self-responsibility' cannot be surpassed. Remember to inquire of Ezekiel below,...'every soul shall die for its OWN sins'. (and not for anothers).

Spoiler

18 The word of the Lord came to me again, saying, 2 “What do you mean when you use this proverb concerning the land of Israel, saying:

‘The fathers have eaten sour grapes,
And the children’s teeth are set on edge’?

3 “As I live,” says the Lord God, “you shall no longer use this proverb in Israel.

4
“Behold, all souls are Mine;
The soul of the father
As well as the soul of the son is Mine;
The soul who sins shall die.

5
But if a man is just
And does what is lawful and right;

6
If he has not eaten on the mountains,
Nor lifted up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel,
Nor defiled his neighbor’s wife,
Nor approached a woman during her impurity;

7
If he has not oppressed anyone,
But has restored to the debtor his pledge;
Has robbed no one by violence,
But has given his bread to the hungry
And covered the naked with clothing;

8
If he has not exacted usury
Nor taken any increase,
But has withdrawn his hand from iniquity
And executed true judgment between man and man;

9
If he has walked in My statutes
And kept My judgments faithfully—
He is just;
He shall surely live!”
Says the Lord God.

10
“If he begets a son who is a robber
Or a shedder of blood,
Who does any of these things

11
And does none of those duties,
But has eaten on the mountains
Or defiled his neighbor’s wife;

12
If he has oppressed the poor and needy,
Robbed by violence,
Not restored the pledge,
Lifted his eyes to the idols,
Or committed abomination;

13
If he has exacted usury
Or taken increase—
Shall he then live?
He shall not live!
If he has done any of these abominations,
He shall surely die;
His blood shall be upon him.

14
“If, however, he begets a son
Who sees all the sins which his father has done,
And considers but does not do likewise;

15
Who has not eaten on the mountains,
Nor lifted his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel,
Nor defiled his neighbor’s wife;

16
Has not oppressed anyone,
Nor withheld a pledge,
Nor robbed by violence,
But has given his bread to the hungry
And covered the naked with clothing;

17
Who has withdrawn his hand from the poor[a]
And not received usury or increase,
But has executed My judgments
And walked in My statutes—
He shall not die for the iniquity of his father;
He shall surely live!

18
“As for his father,
Because he cruelly oppressed,
Robbed his brother by violence,
And did what is not good among his people,
Behold, he shall die for his iniquity.

Turn and Live

19 “Yet you say, ‘Why should the son not bear the guilt of the father?’ Because the son has done what is lawful and right, and has kept all My statutes and observed them, he shall surely live. 20 The soul who sins shall die. The son shall not bear the guilt of the father, nor the father bear the guilt of the son. The righteousness of the righteous shall be upon himself, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon himself.

21 “But if a wicked man turns from all his sins which he has committed, keeps all My statutes, and does what is lawful and right, he shall surely live; he shall not die. 22 None of the transgressions which he has committed shall be remembered against him; because of the righteousness which he has done, he shall live. 23 Do I have any pleasure at all that the wicked should die?” says the Lord God, “and not that he should turn from his ways and live?

24 “But when a righteous man turns away from his righteousness and commits iniquity, and does according to all the abominations that the wicked man does, shall he live? All the righteousness which he has done shall not be remembered; because of the unfaithfulness of which he is guilty and the sin which he has committed, because of them he shall die.

25 “Yet you say, ‘The way of the Lord is not fair.’ Hear now, O house of Israel, is it not My way which is fair, and your ways which are not fair? 26 When a righteous man turns away from his righteousness, commits iniquity, and dies in it, it is because of the iniquity which he has done that he dies. 27 Again, when a wicked man turns away from the wickedness which he committed, and does what is lawful and right, he preserves himself alive. 28 Because he considers and turns away from all the transgressions which he committed, he shall surely live; he shall not die. 29 Yet the house of Israel says, ‘The way of the Lord is not fair.’ O house of Israel, is it not My ways which are fair, and your ways which are not fair?

30 “Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways,” says the Lord God. “Repent, and turn from all your transgressions, so that iniquity will not be your ruin. 31 Cast away from you all the transgressions which you have committed, and get yourselves a new heart and a new spirit. For why should you die, O house of Israel? 32 For I have no pleasure in the death of one who dies,” says the Lord God. “Therefore turn and live!”

Daqq and I had a good exchange on this, perhaps he can find those posts. The proverb, "‘The fathers have eaten sour grapes,
And the children’s teeth are set on edge’ is telling. - perhaps it speaks of the belief of 'ancestral sin' or the sins of the fathers being visited on the children up to the 3rd or 4th generation. Perhaps Ezekiel has a new dispensation of knowledge about this subject? Granted this is a subject that could merit its own thread,...but will see if daqq would like to do a quick synopsis on this. Again, here we consider the principle of responsibility for one's own sins, of which one alone is held accountable. While it may be true in some sense that sins of our ancestors could affect or influence us in one way or another, this does NOT abrogate responsibility for our OWN sins.

This very chapter is also a bonafide attestation to 'free will', since it wholly affirms 'accountability' for one's actions....remember, personal responsibility. - you cannot blame your sins on another man or God, or any variation thereof.
I skim your post so you wouldn't waste too much of my time while I waste my time writing to idiots as well. You babble a lot with celestial languages and comes from unfamiliar places that claims God's words are full of errors. You try to foolishly correct them.

This is a bad comparison but just the idea. I think of men taking a look at medusa and turns to stone. I believe Adam's body was different before he ate the Apple. I guess Eve looked better with an apple in her hand. Nude. When he ate the Apple, his body turned to something else as well. Some sort of deep hardened shame even a leaf could cover it up. Like a person turning to stone after looking at medusa. Like that, I'm born in a stone like form full of molecules and a sinner sinning. Forget those sinless birth fables. Adam has been like the stone statue ever since. Think of statues having baby statues ever since. That's totally depravity to me. We're all born of stone hearts due to Adam having one. A bit hard or stoney. You teach a human being can give birth to a fish based on free will. Get over it. Our free will are used only according to to our natural desires. We're limited like the stone statues. Calvin like lot of others teach we use choices based on our natural abilities.

Most here say Calvin don't when he did or does. A denial of real history that happened for real. We're still not sure about you being on a UFO. You sure fly around a lot. Have no idea where you got free will to do that.

All men by nature are in the flesh and carnal and that being so they cant obey God

Rom 8:7
Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

Cannot please God Rom 8:8
8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.

So naturally, how is mans will free to obey God and please God when he cant do it ?

Are babies in the flesh? Are children who are under the age of accountability in the flesh? They are innocent. So if a baby or child dies before coming to know God as their Savior, do they go to Heaven or Hell?
