Clinton had the good fortune ( ;) ) to serve during the dotcom boom
Despite all their empty rhetoric, about fiscal responsibility the last Republican president to have a balanced budget was Dwight Eisenhower (1960) - 4 of the 5 presidents responsible for the largest deficits in American history were Republicans (Reagan, GHW Bush, GW Bush, Trump)!

Trudeau Is Better Liked in America Than the Actual President! What. A. World.
- Jun 26 2017

Just in time for hashtag Canada 150, a Lincoln Park Strategies/ASPR poll found that Justin Trudeau had a net favorability rating of 11 percent, versus Donald Trump's -12 percent in the United States of America. How's that for a sesquicentennial birthday present?

POLL: AMERICANS LIKE TRUDEAU MORE THAN TRUMP WHEN IT COMES TO TRADE POLICY
- Newsweek,
6/16/18

More Canadians and Americans prefer Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's stance on trade policies compared with the position backed by President Donald Trump, according to recent Ipsos polls for Global News in Canada and Reuters.

The poll results come after Trump and Trudeau have exchanged heated words over tariffs on steel and aluminum. Trudeau has said Canada will not be "pushed around" by the U.S. and that it was "insulting" that Trump would call for new tariffs as a national security issue. Trump, never one to let a feud go quiet into the night, said the prime minister was "meek and mild" and "very dishonest and weak."

The U.S. government imposed tariffs of 25 percent on imported steel, 10 percent on aluminum earlier this month from Europe, Mexico and Canada, sending the Dow Jones industrial average tumbling nearly 252 points, or 1 percent.

Canadians are backing Trudeau in the political beef, with about 72 percent of poll respondents saying they approve of how he has handled the situation. Only 14 percent of those surveyed favored Trump.

Meanwhile, Trump's constituents, the American people, were also far more likely to back the Canadian leader over their own president. Roughly 57 percent of U.S. respondents said they approved of how Canada had responded to the dispute. Only 37 percent said they approved of Trump.

The vast majority of both American and Canadian respondents didn't want the U.S. to impose more tariffs on Canada.

Four in Ten (40%) Americans Agree They’d Rather Have Justin Trudeau as their President - 7 February 2017

Four in ten (40%) Americans ‘agree’ (26% strongly/14% somewhat) that they’d prefer to have Justin Trudeau as their President over Donald Trump, according to a new Ipsos poll of Americans, conducted for Global News in Canada.
Some Americans feel so strongly about the issue, that in an effort to escape the Trump presidency, 4% of Americans say they’ve already started investigating a move to Canada, while an additional 7% say they’re seriously considering whether to look into moving to Canada. Three in ten (28%) Americans say it’s a thought but not a serious one .....

More Americans agree (43% — 17% strongly/26% somewhat) than disagree (16% — 8% strongly/9% somewhat) that they approve of the performance of Justin Trudeau as Canada’s Prime Minister. Four in ten (40%) Americans don’t have an opinion either way.

More Americans disagree (34% — 19% strongly/15% somewhat) than agree (26% — 10% strongly/16% somewhat) that Justin Trudeau’s policies are making North America more open to terrorists. Once again, four in ten (40%) Americans say they don’t know enough to have an opinion on the matter.

Four in ten Americans agree (41% — 16% strongly/25% somewhat) that Justin Trudeau and Canada should take in the refugees that Donald Trump is refusing to admit to the United States, compared to one in three (32%) who disagree (16% strongly/16% somewhat), and 27% who don’t know.

Four in ten (39%) agree (16% strongly/23% somewhat) that Justin Trudeau will be able to stand up effectively to Donald Trump, compared to three in ten (27%) who disagree (12% strongly/15% somewhat) that he will. One in three (34%) Americans is undecided.

Four in ten (44%) Americans say they’re familiar (13% strongly/31% somewhat) with Justin Trudeau, which may not seem such a high figure, but when put in contrast to the 17% who express familiarity (5% very familiar/13% somewhat) with former PM Stephen Harper, one can see the relatively high degree of awareness that the current Canadian Prime Minister has among the American population.

In fact, familiarity with Justin Trudeau (44%) outpaces familiarity with Trump’s pick for the Supreme Court, Neil Gorsuch (36%), and reality TV Star Kevin O’Leary (30%), and rivals that of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (49%). All of these public figures are well behind the awareness levels measured for Vice President Mike Pence (72%). Majority (78%) of Americans Say Canada Speaks with Authority, Contributes Meaningfully to Military Alliances (58%)

The data suggest that the generally-positive impressions of the Prime Minister of Canada among Americans, specifically, appear to have influenced attitudes towards Canada more generally. Eight in ten (78%) Americans more closely believe that when Canada takes a position on a policy, they view it as “Canada speaking with appropriate moral authority since it is an important country in the world”. Conversely, two in ten (22%) more closely view it as “Canada speaking with a false sense of self-importance because it really isn’t that important a country in the world”.

Yesterday the BBC News (in the UK) mentioned that in the USA a Coronavirus test is costing folks $1000. Is this true? Surely it cannot be true?
These tests would be free to all citizens, Yes? No?

If folks cannot afford a test, and equally if they cannot obtain subsistence care if in domestic quarantine, then any attempts to slow down the spread of the virus could fail...... true?

Countries need to slow the spread in the hopes that, like other 'flu-types and winter-colds' it might reduce in the warmer months, giving the medics an extra 6 month window of time to perfect a FREE vaccine......... yes?

Makes sense to me ... however, unless there is drastic change in November via a blue wave, America’s healthcare system will continue to decline. We are currently held hostage by an administration that leads via conspiracy theory and the spreading of false information.

All of what you are saying is entirely true. :D

Here's the latest:

Almost 3000 quarantined in New York City. Also, a "quarantine hotel" collapsed in China, trapping at least 30 people.

I'm going to offer a controversial opinion.

All of these quarantines and cancellations of events are HIGHLY DISRUPTIVE to the economy.

And it only has a kill rate of like 3.4 percent.

We should stop trying to prevent it.

After all, trying to prevent it is creating a panic.

That's not good.

Let it spread.

Life should go on as normal.

If we let it spread, it would all be over very soon.

It's not true.

Try $3000.

No, of course not. In a capitalist society, everything has a price. And the boomers have consistently voted for right wing politicians to ensure that there are no price controls in place.

Boomers love capitalism more than their very lives.

The irony!

INDEED THEY WILL! :rotfl:

Which it won't. It's in both hemispheres. This virus doesn't care about the temperature. :rotfl:

Our Chief Medical Officer tells us that it is very probable that Covid-19 will reduce in the warm months, just as the flu virus and cold virus do.
That will give the medics a time break to assist them to get a vaccine developed for next autumn, which is how long that they think it will take 'if they get lucky'.

You a medic? Truck Driver? Carpenter? Just interested.....
