Yes, this can occur and does occur in many lives. Genuine salvation can be counterfeited; deceiving both the pretender and all those around him. See Hebrews 6:4-6 and Hebrews 10:26-29

Then from the believer's perspective, he was: saved, lost, repented, saved, lost, repented, saved, lost, repented...

This cycle, other than semantic differences, is identical to Catholic belief.
Catholics are saved when baptized, lost when committing mortal sin, repent, and saved again. Same cycle.

Of course, from God's perspective, the believer was either saved or damned all along, right? He was destined to be one or the other, and of course God knew what the result would be.

Regeneration to new spiritual life, worked by the power of the Holy Spirit (John 3:1-8), precludes a continual practice and/or return to sinful choices. Genuine repentance is a total change of heart, mind, and will. See I John 3:6-1

The actual "baptism" that saves a sinful soul, is the baptism of the Spirit of God. John 3:1-8 This is what I refer to as "regeneration" or being spiritually born (resurrected) from above.

Many think they are Christians, who have never been baptized and indwelt with the Holy Spirit of Christ. I John 2:18-19

These will continue to produce the fruits of the flesh, and fail to manifest the fruit of the Spirit. Galatians 5:19-25
Ephesians 1:12-13, 14 KJV -

Indeed.

Correct . . And the truly saved, after being regenerated by God to new spiritual life, will not vacillate between declarations of repentance while exhibiting uncontrollable propensity to practice sin.

Rather, the born again Christian will manifest a new love of God, faith, and the fruits of Christ's Spirit, thereby witnessing to the victory of Christ that rescued him from all bondage to sin, death, and the devil.

False teaching.

(Such nonsense is the result of teaching that God's grace is common to all men, which I have scripturally opposed for years!)

God's grace always saves; is irresistible; is gifted only to an elect people chosen in Christ before creation; and proves to be permanent unto everlasting life.

No, God's grace is the blood of Christ....which we access through faith. As Paul tells us, we are brought near (reconciled) by His death......much more, we shall be saved by His life when we access that grace through faith.

Romans 5:10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

Obviously, people can and do resist God's grace by refusing to be reconciled to Him.

2 Corinthians 5:20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.
