The children of disobedience !

Eph 2:2

² Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:

In the original its:

τοῖς υἱοῖς τῆς ἀπειθείας with the definite article, meaning the children of disobedience is a definite group of people whose manner of life will characterized by gospel disobedience.

Even though the elect are naturally disobedient Titus 3:3 yet they're not of the children of disobedience. The elect have the suretyship of Christ obedience on their behalf Rom 5:19 and they by it have been constituted righteous, obedient,

1. , upright, righteous, virtuous, keeping the commands of God
   
   And in due time the Spirit Sanctifies them unto obedience 1 Pet 1:2
   
   ² Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.
   
   The children of disobedience have been appointed to disobedience as was these jews Peter writes of 1 Pet 2:8
   
   
   ⁸ And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.
   
   So they're part of Paul's " the children of disobedience"

They cant become obedient !

Now the children of disobedience cannot of their own freewill stop being children of disobedience and become obedient because they dont have the nature to. Heres their nature described Eph 2:2

In the children of disobedience there is the prince of the power of the air, a evil spirit working in them, and they're under the power of that spirit. The word power is the greek word exousia and means:

1. the power of rule or government (the power of him whose will and commands must be submitted to by others and obeyed)
   
   By nature the elect and non elect are under the power/authority of satan who is the prince of the power of the air Acts 26:18
   
   To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power ^G1849 of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.
   
   As long as man is under the power of satan they cant be obedient and wont be obedient.

Amen, for a time God's Elect walk according to the course of this world Eph. 2:2, living an ungodly lifestyle, yet they were already made Righteous in Christ their Covenant Head from Everlasting !

As long as man is under the power of satan they cant be obedient and won't be obedient.

Exactly ! God has appointed them to stumble at the Word of God 1 Pet. 2:8 and to be punished with everlasting destruction:


2 Thes. 1:8-9

8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:

9 Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;
