What does this three word phrase denote in scripture ? It denotes Gods purpose, intention, design which brings about desired results.

Notice Josh 11:20

For it was of the Lord to harden their hearts, that they should come against Israel in battle, that he might destroy them utterly, and that they might have no favour, but that he might destroy them, as the Lord commanded Moses.

It was Gods purpose to destroy these people, so He hardened their hearts, so that they come against Israel, so that He might destroy them !

Ps 106:8

Nevertheless he saved them for his name's sake, that he might make his mighty power to be known.

Isa 61:3

To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified.

Rom 3:26

To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.

Gal 1:4

Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father:

Eph 2:16

And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:

Where you see the words/phrase " that He might" it denotes Gods purpose or objective on why something was done, and why it shoukd produce Gods purposed results, because its Gods purpose and not mans ! Can God ever fail of His Purpose or be disappointed in it ? Isa 14:24

The Lord of hosts hath sworn, saying, Surely as I have thought, so shall it come to pass; and as I have purposed, so shall it stand:

Amen exactly Brother ! The God of scripture is The God of Purpose, and the Words "that He might" perfectly describes how all things that come to pass in Time were Eternally Purposed Eph. 3:11 by Him from Everlasting, and they happen precisely according to His predetermined end !
