One of the most frequently quoted psalms is 110. 'The Lord said to My Lord, Sit at my right hand...'

We find out from the post-resurrection seminar of Christ, between the Resurrection and Pentecost, that this was God honoring Christ for the work of the Gospel. Because Christ had lived rightly and suffered infinitely, he was resurrected. The psalm is about the moment he is brought back to life and heaven.

The resurrection, says Rom 1:4, is that declaration. The verse says that the resurrection itself is how God declared Christ to be King, Lord, Savior, and the fulfillment of prophetic Davidic expectations. This was a 'subversive' declaration as heard in Rome's society, but it was no call for anarchy or revolt. Instead, it's aim was to get the emperor himself to submit to Christ, and Vespasian, for one, did so, to a certain extent.

The resurrection should be seen as honors ceremony. It is not one of the things that needed to be done to save us, but is rather God honoring Christ for what he has done, in public. We find this also in Rom 4:25 and Acts 13:33 (where 'raised' is not just Christ appearing on the historical scene, but being raised from death). By this event, we who believe were powerfully put under grace, for there is no condemnation on those in Christ. And by this, sin has no more power over us. Sin has its power when people are plagued by debt.

It was the Christian mission to help everyman see that this had happened and could be their own personal outcome.
