I would take a different approach: I would expose my child to both situations (under my supervision, of course) and then have an intelligent discussion about the ramifications of the events that he had just witnessed.

The point of this excercise would be to acclimate him to the social realities that surround us: that sex and violence are both parts of human nature that we must come to terms with sooner or later. cite
