Where is GM "coming from?"

Detroit?

:chuckle:

And my point was that once one is well stablished in the faith, or well grounded, in the various details of Paul's gospel, how all fits together; how this or that works, its not that difficult to know where some one who is not, or perhaps is not in one area or another, is coming from as to these issues (Rom. 1:11; Rom. 16:25; Eph. 4:12-14; Col. 1:24-26; Col. 2:6-8).

Colossians 2:

6. As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him:
7. Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.

That, in turn enables living out the instruction based on that to:

8. Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

Anyway, despite our differences, and our issues, or whatever had actually been the basis of your question, may this post be of some edification to you, all the same.

The philosophy of Col 2:8 was neo-Judaism that had replaced the mission to the nations with special events for Israel.

If you did some translating in Josephus, you'd see that 'philosophy' was the term they used for sects that were trying to get traction. They did not mean philosophy in the general sense.

Methinks you're limiting it some - Note its origin: "...after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world..."

There is more there than simply its local sense...the real issue is the issue here - the issue of how men look at things, and the tradition that ends up - the ways of the pagan world of their day, yes, including a fallen Judaism; but the basis of all that is all the same - the ways of the world in general, that result in its various systems, philosophies, etc.

Paul's is a gospel meant to enable the Believer to see though what ever lens he needs to; able to see the what's what of any and all things because Paul's gospel is "the manifold wisdom of God," Eph. 3:10 "which none of the princes of this world...had... known..." 1 Cor. 2:8.

Col. 2: 20. Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances,
21. (Touch not; taste not; handle not;
22. Which all are to perish with the using; ) after the commandments and doctrines of men?

Verse 22a is 1 Corinthians 2:6b's "Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought:"

Hi to all and Acts 7:51 reads , STIFFNECKED ones and Uncircumcisied in Heart and Ears , you Always Strive against the the Holy Spirit as your fathers , YOU ALSO !!

The verb " STRIVE OR RESIST " is in the Present tense of Continuous Action AND means they were continually RESISTING the Holy Spirit and Judgment came as Luke says in 13:35 , your house is left unto to you DESOLATE !!

And you SHALL not see Me , until you will say Blessed is He that cometh in the name of the Lord , verse 35 !!

This is why Pentecost was set aside !!

Because of un-belief !!

God had already prepared a new apostle called Paul !!

With a new gospel called the MYSTERY and a New Age called the Dispensation of the Grace of God that was HIDDEN in God and revealed only to Paul Col 1:25-27 !!

And we are to Proclaim it uinto the Obedience of FAITH !!
