I've interpreted Hebrews to mean that the priesthood and the penalty are no longer necessary.

Please. You are welcome to share what you are referring to, what you mean, and what you have learned. Exposure to Scripture can only help us so long as we can all think (and reason?) for ourselves. If there is something that we do not understand somehow we may receive illumination as to what it is.

CHRIST CHANGED THE LAW IT OVERRIDES THE OLD TESTAMENT LAW
Heb 7:12-16
12 For the priesthood being changed, of necessity there is also a change of the law.
13 For He of whom these things are spoken belongs to another tribe, from which no man has officiated at the altar.

XXX Christ didnt do away with the idea of law. He just came to deliver us from the old testament law of sin and death. And He done it with the new testament law of Christ. One cant keep them both. One cant get an eye for an eye and turn the other cheek both at the same time.

I do not know what you are teaching now, but it is not scripture.
We are to love God with all our heart, soul, and might. We are to love our neighbor as our self. Jesus said to love one another.

The new covenant with Israel and Judah will be different from the Sinaitic Covenant.
Christ will not be married to mortals at that time.
There is a new priesthood of the order of Melchizedek.

Good point. That explains why nobody says to know the LORD.
"No more shall every man teach his neighbor and every man his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for they all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them, says the Lord." (Jeremiah 31:34)
Context helps a person understand.

Hebrews 7:11-12 how that the law concerning priesthood changed by necessity.
Trying to find the other reference, but I assume since the death penalty is attached to the rest of the legal code, it is suspended.

For this I encourage you to read the entirety of the book of Hebrews. There is a more severe punishment even than the punishment of breaking the Law of Moses or the Mosaic Law.
