League of Reason's AronRa in Round Two

This is the show from Friday, February 17th 2011.

SUMMARY:

* Bob and Fred on the League of Reason Debate
: The RSF co-hosts talk about Bob's written creation/evolution debate with AronRa and the League of Reason's Soft Tissue Deniers. (See the photo from an actual T. rex at the right and the great two-minute video below.) The tissue deniers are both fearful of and willingly ignorant of the many recent peer-reviewed journal reports confirming five soft-tissue dinosaur finds!

* AronRa's Statistics: Hear about Aron criticizing Bob for using the same number of U.S. doctors (34%), from the same study that 'Ra used (Finkelstein's), of those who prefer intelligent design over evolution! And then there's that completely fabricatred 99.86% stat that atheists have been claiming for years...

* And Then There's Lord Kelvin Himself: Check him out on RSF's KGOV.com/fathers-of-science#kelvin!

We're at $11,050 of our $30,000 Goal! (Thank you!) Please consider one or more of our monthly subscriptions that will not only help support BEL, they will also help to better understand the Bible and equip you to be a better witness to those around you.*

Lord Kelvin, huh? And the age of the earth according to Lord Kelvin was thrown out since evolutionists realized they needed more time for their chance driven theory.

...Or it could have been thrown out because Lord Kelvin was totally unaware of the major factor contributing to heating the earth - radioactive decay.

As it happens, Japanese scientists were able to provide a fairly solid estimate of how much of the total heat of the earth comes from radioactive decay - about 50% - based on the detection rate of anti-neutrinos, a confirmed product of Uranium and Thorium decay chains.

In fact, that's an awesome example of the self-correcting nature of science, rather than the atheistic hubris of scientists colluding in a world-wide conspiracy to replace God with self-worship and sin without consequence.

I wonder if either of the participants will eventually get around to addressing the topic that's being debated?

As usual the debate is totally obscured because atheists do not want to admit there are creationists in scientific positions of authority.

Don't care, in so far as the derail should have been kept off the debate thread.

AronRa should have read Bob's debate with Zakath before even thinking about doing this. I have a feeling his reputation is going to end up going the way of Thunderf00t -- infamous for being pwned by Ray Comfort.

No, he's being mocked as another irrational atheist. :)

mm, Zakath's big mistake was picking up the cudgels on a topic that required him to prove a negative in a system where not all parameters are known.

Phylogeny, as we may see if the contestants ever get around to debating it, doesn't require a miracle of logic, it requires the presentation and analysis of many consilient strands of evidence, and an analysis of the flaws of alternative explanations to show it by far the most reasonable and evidential conclusion to draw on the balance of probabilities.

I thought thunderfoot did fine against Ray Comfort, but it wasn't the stomping I think most of us were looking forward to seeing, so it ended up as a loss by default. Thunderfoot is politely British and and so wasn't inclined to hold Ray's feet to the fire when confronted with RC's rather disarming "well you're the expert" approach. Comfort doesn't really know what he's talking about, but he knows how to package and present fairly slickly.
