. . . . 40 years to accomplish.

In understanding this one must keep in mind that God gave us the natural to understand the spiritual.

Here is another beautiful example:

"If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land" Isaiah 1:19 (KJV)

Can anyone see how this applies to the Christian? Where is the spiritual "good land" found in the NT Isa 1:19 speaks of?

Jesus did in 40 days what it took the Israelites 40 years to accomplish.

In understanding this one must keep in mind that God gave us first the natural to understand then the spiritual.

Along with the Promise of entering a new Land flowing with milk and honey, God gave the Israelites salvation/deliverance from Egypt and baptized them with water to begin their journey. However, since they would be rulers and reigners in this new land, they had to undergo the test that would prove them able to be what they needed to be that would require a intimate relationship with God as a vast family.

Enter their wilderness experience purposed to last but a few days that wound up being 40 years with the first generation dying off before entering the new land due to unbelief/unfaithfulness.

Here is the pronouncement from God in that matter:

Read all of Deut. 6:1-25 to see this in the natural to see how it correlates with the natural life of Jesus in Luke 4:1-14.

Know that Romans 8 is the Spiritual corollary to Deut. Chapter 6.
