Jeremy,

Why do you quote this verse out of its context? If we read on,we see that after the rich man left the Lord told His disciples that it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than it is for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. Then read what is said concerning "salvation":

"When his disciples heard it, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, Who then can be saved?

But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible"
(Mt.19:25,26).

With men this is impossible.By the works of the law shall no man be justified before God:

"But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith"(Gal.3:11).

"Therefore by the works of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin"(Ro.3:20).

Why do you still think that a man can be justified by the law even though Paul says that no man is justified by the work of the law?

In His grace,--Jerry

The works won't get you into heavan. God will.

But, having accepted the gift of Salvation, how can I not
express my gratitude through works?

Its not about one or the other, its about priorities. And its
about avoiding unscrupulous biblical interpreters, the ones
who say "do this and you will get into heavan." Lies, all
lies. Nothing anyone can do will get them into heavan. Go
to God first, and then, having received the gift, perform good
works as an expression of gratitude.
