ECT Angels and The Condition Of The Dead

This study is based on Hebrews chapter 1 and Ecclesiastics chapter 9:5,6&10.

The first chapter of Hebrews contrasts the position of the angels and the position of Christ. God has spoken words concerning Christ that are not to be applied to the angels. They are “sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation,” but Christ, as Mediator, is the great Minister in the work of redemption. The Holy Spirit is His representative in our world, to execute the divine purpose of bringing to fallen man power from above, that he may be an overcomer. All who enter into a covenant with Jesus Christ become by adoption the children of God. They are cleansed by the regenerating power of the Word, and angels are commissioned to minister unto them (Manuscript 57, 1907). The ministration of holy angels, as presented in the Scriptures, is a truth most comforting and precious to every follower of Christ. But the Bible teaching upon this point has been obscured and perverted by the errors of popular theology. The doctrine of natural immortality, first borrowed from the pagan philosophy, and in the darkness of the great apostasy incorporated into the Christian faith, has supplanted the truth, so plainly taught in Scripture, that “the dead know not anything.” Multitudes have come to believe that it is spirits of the dead who are the “ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation.” And this notwithstanding the testimony of Scripture to the existence of heavenly angels, and their connection with the history of man, before the death of a human being.*
The doctrine of man’s consciousness in death, especially the belief that spirits of the dead return to minister to the living, has prepared the way for modern spiritualism. ( The Great Controversy, Chapter 34. )

Christ has warned his disciples "take heed that no man deceive you." This warning was not exclusively for them, but for all the successive generation who shall profess faith in Christ. The bible is very plain. The factors that leads to various interpretation of the written word, is a un-renewed heart and disobedience.*
The scriptures is clear on the work of the angels. They are to aid us in salvation, whether it be protecting us from evil angels or influences. Psalms 34:7. Angels are not our dead friends, or relatives. This is contrary to the bible, in the book of Genesis, after man's banishment from Eden God commissioned an angels to keep man out of Eden, Genesis 3:24. This was before the death of any human being had taken place. This disproves that man is the ministering spirits, sent forth to the heirs of salvation.

The angels are intelligent beings capable of any line of work God may call them to do. That is because they have breath of life, after all that is what God place into Adam before any instruction was given him. Scripture teaches "that the dead know not anything." Ecclesiastics 9:5,6&10. There is two ways to understand this passage. The first whatever the living is, the dead is the opposite. Second, imagine when Adam was created by God he had heart, lung, and brain; all which are needed to make life possible. It was until God breath into his nostril was he able to perceive and function, not so with the dead for they have no breath of life. In other words it's is extremely impossible for those who have died to minister to us.

Finally brethren, the teaching that men are alive immediately after death, is of the devil. It is his first lie he told in Eden, Genesis3:4. If you believe the devil and teach his doctrine, than you belong to him. If you belong to him than you will share his torment and destruction. Please reconsider your ways on this matter. May this study be a blessing to you and your family.

That is correct, death is the opposite of life, it is the absence of life.

You are right, those that believe in immediate life after death are in great error

It is the devil that has the power of death. Hebrews 2:14

God is the author of life, the devil has the power of death.

There is no consciousness in death. Psalm 6:5 and other places.

We are not with the lord until he returns to gather us up. I Thessalonians 4:13-18.

But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.

14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.

15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.

16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

The dead in Christ are dead until they rise up a the Lord's descent from heaven with a shout with the voice of the archangel and with the trump of God, then the dead in Christ shall rise, not a moment sooner,

So shall we ever be with the Lord.

To absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.

Yes, angels are to serve. Which is why Paul said if they preach something different than what the risen Lord Jesus Christ delivered to Paul, they are accursed.

If you have to die to be present with the Lord then that is a false gospel.

When one is absent from this present body and then raised from the dead to be clothed with immortality then yes one is present with the Lord in the new body.

That is the teaching of 2 Cor.ch 5., 1 Cor.ch 15 and 1 Thes ch 4.

Your My Spirit is positioned with his, sealed by the Holy Spirit. That does not change your soul and your consciousness which is in dead flesh.

2 Corinthians 5:8

8 We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.

2Co 5:1 For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.
2Co 5:2 For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven:
2Co 5:3 If so be that being clothed we shall not be found naked.
2Co 5:4 For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life.

Our relatives who die do not become angels.
However, we are not just flesh, we are flesh and spirit.

God breathed Adam his spirit into him.

Our spirit inside us makes our body a living soul.

When our body dies our spirit goes to be with Jesus or it goes to prison/Hell.

Our spirits look just as we do but without flesh and bones. Our spirits have a conscience and can feel emotions, think, talk, and move about even easier than with a physical body.

If the soul/spirit does not go to be with the Lord till His return. Where is Enoch (Gen. 5:24), where is Elijah 2 Kings 2:11, where is Moses (Mt. 17:3), where is the crucified criminal (Luke 23:40-43).
