MUSK BUYS TWITTER!

[Y]ou cannot reasonably expect to collect any meaningful advertising revenue if you do not promise those advertisers “brand safety.” That means you have to ban racism, sexism, transphobia, and all kinds of other speech that is totally legal in the United States but reveals people to be total [redacted]. So you can make all the promises about “free speech” you want, but the dull reality is that you still have to ban a bunch of legal speech if you want to make money.

Twitter is planning to start charging $20 per month for verification

It looks like Elon isn't even going to need that many advertisers.

Let's talk about just how wonderful this article is:

Now that he owns Twitter, Elon Musk has given employees their first ultimatum: Meet his deadline to introduce paid verification on Twitter or pack up and leave.

In other words: "It's my way or the highway, snowflakes."

The directive is to change Twitter Blue, the company’s optional, $4.99 a month subscription that unlocks additional features, into a more expensive subscription that also verifies users, according to people familiar with the matter and internal correspondence seen by The Verge. Twitter is currently planning to charge $19.99 for the new Twitter Blue subscription.

Under the current plan, verified users would have 90 days to subscribe or lose their blue checkmark.

This means the blue checkmark libs are going to be paying money to make sure that formerly banned conservatives (which banning they cheered) will have their influence back. It just keeps getting better and better.

Employees working on the project were told on Sunday that they need to meet a deadline of November 7th to launch the feature or they will be fired.

Read that sentence again. Just for fun. Let it sink in.

Musk has been clear in the months leading up to his acquisition that he wanted to revamp how Twitter verifies accounts and handles bots. On Sunday, he tweeted: “The whole verification process is being revamped right now.”

"...right now." Christmas come early.

With the help of Tesla engineers he has brought into Twitter as advisors, he’s also planning mass layoffs aimed at middle managers and engineers who haven’t recently contributed to the code base. Those cuts are expected to begin this week with managers already creating lists of employees to cut.

And many of those same managers will likely be fired themselves when they finish the task. Brutal. Just brutal. This is what political censors deserve.

Employees tasked with executing projects of Musk’s since he took control Thursday evening have been working late into the night and over the weekend.

Give the snowflakes a taste of what actual work feels like (for the first time in their lives) and then fire them. Ya gotta love him.

Musk is keen on growing subscriptions to become half of the company’s overall revenue.

Go ahead and boycott Twitter from receiving a lot of ad revenue all you "woke" corporations. With the increase in revenue from the blue checkmark liberals along with the massive cuts in bloated salaries, it won't hurt Twitter's bottom line.

Christmas come early!

People can discuss anything here for sure but the bias is readily in place and it's hardly covert.
Not all bias is bad. Bias in the open is hardly something to fear.
I have to be wary of what I post in reply to you in certain regards as if I were to use turd smileys as "response" I'd hardly be surprised to be kicked into touch for being vulgar or some such. Don't pretend that this is a level playing field for discussion.
Truth and error create a tilted playing field. You're just mad because you're in error.
I'd sooner it was as I'm not one for being offended by it but that's the way it is. This place always had a bias on its sleeve but it invited contrary opinions that once made it vibrant. You have pretty much zero chance of being banned from here no matter what you write unless you go off the deep end on here.
No, I'm not the "chosen one".

You seem to spend a lot of your time on TOL calling non-banned TOL members who say things you don't like to hear, "wingnuts," "bat crazy," etc. Yet, here you've basically just told us that to not be banned from TOL is to have not "gone off the deep end". IOW, according to your silliness, a person can be a "bat crazy" "wingnut" without having "gone off the deep end":

"Joe is a bat crazy wingnut, but at least he's not gone off the deep end!"

I was well aware of the bias of this place when I joined back in 2006. It was recommended to me a friend from another forum with the advice of have a thick skin and enjoy.

It's not that at all as was explained to you in my last. You can use all manner of name calling, implied vulgarity etc whereas were I to do the same in turn would land me in the penalty box. You won't be the one getting the ban and frankly, you know this. You know fine well that you have more leeway than those on the 'left' of the aisle who have to tread more carefully and if you somehow don't know this then you should. I'm not mad about it but I'm not going to pretend that this is a level playing field because it isn't. Saying that I'm mad because I'm in error is just kindergarten rubbish. I argue on issues from a perspective that's different to yours is all.

Nobody said you were. See above for clarification.

Hmm, funny, not so long ago you were wondering why I wasn't on TOL that much these days and felt the need to contact me about it. Amusing if nothing else.

Nice conspiracy theory you're pushing there, you unhinged wingnut. Good luck trying to sell it, seeing as how you use outright vulgarity, and yet you're still here, Princess Snowflake:

If you and that dope Carlson consider that a totalitarian, despot regime such as the current one in Russia embodies orthodox, Christian values then the pair of you (along with anyone else who agrees) are bat crap crazy.

Stop being such a whiney hypocrite.

What "outright vulgarity" are you accusing me of? Do provide an example as I'm averse to it as well as using it normally. The floor is yours. "Bat crap crazy" hardly counts and you should already know that.

Take your own advice.
