Biden can no more solve the debt problem than AOC can cure the weather

Biden braggs about his boots to the economy and reductions in the debt or deficit, but he is lying. He hasn't done a thing and likely cannot do a thing to solve the massive US debt problem created by decades of very poor government fiscal mismanagement. How is America to be saved from bankruptcy? No way most Americans are willing to accept, which is why the debt crisis continues to grow while politicians keep kicking the can down the road to satisfy their constituents. This is how one fiscal expert analyzed the situation. Can any of these suggestions be implemented and will they solve the problem?

Choices for FY 2021 and Beyond

To keep Social Security solvent, Congress must choose from the least of three evils. None of them would be good for the economy. First, allow more of the budget to go toward Social Security benefits. This would force cuts in defense spending, the largest discretionary budget item. It would also constrain the government's ability to stimulate the economy in a recession.
Second, increase the overall size of the budget. To fund this increased spending, taxes would have to be raised, or the debt would have to be increased. Either would slow economic growth.
Third, decrease the benefit amount paid to retirees. This is the most likely scenario. It would force able-bodied older workers to continue working.

People are living longer today than when Social Security began. I think people should not be allowed to collect Social Security until they turn at least 70. Plus, when Social Security began, most people worked in factories or doing other forms of physical labor. But today, there are so many jobs people can perform while lying on their couch with their laptop. This includes people who are on disability. Learn to code and get off the government dole.

I had social security payments taken out of my paychecks for 47 years and while I would not have supported the idea of a government social security program in the first place I now consider my social security checks something I earned, not a government gift.

Through personal choices, people are also have fewer children. That is one of the things that is causing an older population with fewer young people feeding the Ponzi scheme.

How old are you? Those of us that are 65+ don't like your idea.

Jobs that are brain intensive are no easier then physical labor when you get older.

Coding is not for everyone.

P.S. I've been a software engineer most of my career. It gets much harder as you get older.

Coding is not a simple job. Very few people can do it. Are you an author? If not, why not? Coding is orders of magnitude more difficult than writing a successful book as you must learn to describe very complex processes with a language you have never read nor spoken before and every programming language has a completely different syntax.

Coding was just one example. There are hundreds of relatively easy tasks that can be performed on a laptop. Many of them don't pay a lot but anyone over 60 years old shouldn't have a mortgage to worry about.

It's nice to hear you assume everyone's life has gone smoothly and no one has ever had any major financial issues, health problems, major injuries, etc.... Not everything that happens to people happens on the job.

Social Security is projected to go bankrupt in 2033. I provided my solution. What's yours?

  • Stop spending obscene amounts on the military "defense".
  • Stop handing out "welfare" to those that are nothing but leeches.
  • Disband all of the departments that the Feds are NOT authorized to have in the first place.
That should more than cover SS.

You might be right about that.

I would still factor in that when Social Security began, the average person lived 12.5 years after retirement but today its 21.5 years. If it was still 12.5 years, that would put the retirement age at 74.

That we go back to our origins and put government back in its rightful place in our lives. Our Constitutional limits need to be enforced, If we just look at how much has been taken from us at the point of a gun all of us would be wealthier having that money back and all of us would have made far more money during our working years for the government would not have been stifling business with regulation nor increasing the prices of everything the same way.

If we're going to do something let's do it thoroughly. Let's go back to where we started.

Like land and resources, the earth and the governments of the world cannot last forever. There is an end coming and wise people will not waste time trying to change the weather in vain hopes the end will not come. Wise people will seek to make a lasting peace with God in preparation for meeting Him in the afterlife.

The world can no longer afford to disarm, whether locally or internationally. Sinners are getting more wicked and greed is driving more and more wicked thieves to rob everyone from local individuals to entire nations.

The US debt is already unsustainable. Cutting the budget for small programs here and there will not prevent the inevitable bankruptcy. The government has spent dozens of decades growing to the size it is now and there are not enough people in the country to raise enough taxes to keep the fatted government pig breathing while paying interest on the massive debt.

The USA has long overspent on the military.
The US debt is already unsustainable.
And a very large portion of the spending that creates the debt is the military spending.

I was not talking about "small programs here and there". I was talking about the large departments that should not even exist.

Yep.
