  • Socialism in action

This video is a very interesting story of a woman who wanted to be a farmer since she was a little girl. It's her story of fighting back against an environmental group and corrupt county officials in an attempt to take her property, after she had spent years rebuilding it and investing in it. The story isn't her's alone though as other farmers around the country experience the same things.

This is the administrative state in action and the corruption that it engenders.

― Alexis de Tocqueville, Democracy in America

“One and God make a majority.”

Give me a break ! I oxen't know how true this story is, and it may be highly misleading . I don't know if she did nothing wrong . But to call this incident an example of "socialism " shows just how clueless the poster of this thread is about politics .
If anyone is likely to violate people's rights in America, it's Trump and the Repugnican party ( what it should be called . ) America isn't becoming 'socialist ". It's rapidly descending into fascist , theocratic tyranny under Trump the chump .

          Wrong.

Fascism is on the political left. It is a specialized socialist ideology. Historically it was invented by American slave-owning democrats, adopted by Mussolini, and perfected by Hitler.

Trump is a true republican, is on the political right, and is trying to protect the U.S. from economic ruin and restore control of government to the people who are already citizens. Nationalists are patriots and support their country's founding principles.

You have fallen into the media's trap of branding all nationalists as fascists. Big mistake.
Nelson Mandela, Ghandi, Winston Churchill, and all the anti-colonial leaders who established the U.S. and fought for independence were fervent nationalists. But none of them were fascists; and neither is Trump. Nationalism is not the defining feature of fascism.

We would all like him to have polished edges and present himself as being more "presidential". But the American people recognized him as the only one, with all his faults, who can begin to reverse the power grab in politics.

Why do the socialist democrats want to use tax dollars to pay for college and medical expenses? So they can control more and more of your life. Pass a law that says you must pay more taxes, control less of your money, and have no choice in the matter. That is a fascist principle. Governments will always waste more on bureaucracy than the private sector makes in profit, so why would you want it?

The less decision making control an individual has, the more ripe the nation is for fascism, communism, dictatorship.
Religion is man's attempt to make himself acceptable to God. Christianity is God making man acceptable to Himself.

It is true that Trump does not fit modern Republican principles, but that is because modern Republican principles have strayed far from conservatism. genuineoriginal

It isn't. That's retarded. Is economics the only lens you view society through?

It isn't. That's retarded. It is a direct, explicit rejection of Marxist theory.

                I like this gem, though:

This is true. Read Gramsci on the subject. Workers are too conservative in the U.S. for a real communist revolution, so he wanted to have a student's revolution instead.(I might be thinking of Marcuse).

Governments will always waste more on bureaucracy than the private sector makes in profit, so why would you want it?
What makes you think that in the long term greedy algorithms yield the best quality of life? Private companies and industry has a pretty bad track record, for example, with environmental impact. What's the difference between corporate power and governmental power, practically speaking?

Fascism can be fascism of the right-wing or the left-wing kind . Hitler was a right-wing extremist fascist . Stalin,Lenin and Mao were left-wing fascists . Hitler was a right-wing fascist . Trump is a right-wing extremist fascist .
None of the Democrats is a fascist and none of them supports fascism . The Democrats are LIBERALS - the exact opposite of fascism . Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Castro, Pol Pot et al were totalitarian dictators . Trump is a would be totalitarian dictator, but fortunately, our government is designed to PREVENT any president from being a dictator .
This is why Trump MUST be stopped at all costs . He must not be reelected next year . America cannot withstand a second Trump term .

I do not understand where this criticism of Abraham Lincoln comes from. The following quote comes from Article 1, Section 9 of the Constitution.

The Privilege of the Writ of Habeas Corpus shall not be suspended, unless when in Cases of Rebellion or Invasion the public Safety may require it.
Ummm. Was there a rebellion going on during Abraham Lincoln's presidency? Were there insurrectionists violating US law and killing people who disagreed with them?

No. Fascism is fascism. Without getting to spergy about fascism vs Fascism, Fascism is a specific ideology with its own ideas on how to organize and maintain society. It isn't just a collection of stuff liberals and communists don't like.
Hitler was a right-wing extremist fascist.
                          National socialist, not Fascist.

They were all authoritarian, yes, but the national socialists were not totalitarian.

Lincoln incited war with the south by many of his illegal actions, including the blockading of southern ports.

Lincoln was aware that the blockading of ports was an act of war. In fact, since an act of war is, by implication, taken against another state, some in his cabinet argued that a blockade would constitute a tacit recognition of the sovereignty of the Confederacy, something the North wanted to avoid. Lincoln was less interested in the legal definitions than in the military utility of the plan, and he approved it despite the objections.

Perhaps you don't remember when the United States of America declared their independence. But Lincoln told the southern states that they had no such right.

Lincoln was one of the worst dictators of all time and many, including Hitler, modeled much of their philosophy on his work.
