An armed Trump supporter was detained and released by police Wednesday outside a community space for immigrants in El Paso, Texas, days after a mass shooting that killed 22 people at a Walmart in the border town.

Witnesses said they called police after Thomas Bartram, 21, made threatening comments to people and brandished a knife while sitting in his truck outside the community center Casa Carmelita. His truck was emblazoned with pro-Trump banners and bumper stickers promoting InfoWars, a far-right conspiracy website and radio show.

LOL. Talk about making a mountain out of a molehill. Some guy responds with a joke out of the audience, Trump grins, and it's Oh, Trump is terrible. He encourages violence. That's about as stupid as stupid gets.

Really? How about denouncing it as opposed to smirking and making flip jokes? Is that stupid?

Can you doubt for a moment that the trolls would have been moaning and hyperventilating, if Obama had done it?

Trump wants to pander to the white supremacists, but doesn't have the courage to actually come out and say it. So he tries to just hint about how "the second amendment people" might be able to reverse things if he loses an election.

And now we're seeing the results. As one former white nationalist said, it's going to get worse. I'm pleased to see the FBI stepping up and putting more resources into tracking racist and anti-Semitic organizations, but it won't be enough.

So long as we have a president who coyly panders to those guys, some of them will take him seriously and act on it.

Investigators believe the man suspected of gunning down 22 people at an El Paso, Texas, Walmart Saturday posted an anti-immigrant screed on an anonymous extremist message board, citing the Christchurch, New Zealand, mosque shooter who left 51 dead in March, as an inspiration.

In April, a man suspected of opening fire at a San Diego synagogue, killing one person, also posted a note online that was almost identical to one written by the Christchurch shooter. The note, which was full of anti-Semitic language and lauded white supremacy, named the Christchurch shooter and the man accused of fatally shooting 11 people inside a Pittsburgh synagogue as inspirations for the attack.

And less than a week before Saturday's shooting, a 19-year-old man, suspected of killing three people at a Gilroy, California, food festival before killing himself, left a note on Instagram instructing followers to read a 19th-century white nationalist book.

Those attacks followed six worshipers killed at a Sikh temple in Wisconsin in 2012; three people gunned down at Jewish community center in Kansas in 2013; and nine slain at a black church in South Carolina in 2015.

Extremist-related murders spiked 35 percent from 2017 to 2018, "making them responsible for more deaths than in any year since 1995," according to the Anti-Defamation League (ADL). Last year, every one of those extremist-related murders was carried out by a right-wing extremist.

Meanwhile, white supremacist propaganda distribution nearly tripled from 2017 to 2018, according to the ADL, which also documented a rise in racist rallies and demonstrations.

More than 100 tires have been slashed in a predominately Orthodox Jewish community in New Jersey in recent days, according to authorities there.

All of the vehicles targeted in Lakewood Township, New Jersey, were owned or driven by Jewish people. The incidents are being investigated as bias crimes, police told ABC New York City station WABC.

The most recent tire slashings occurred outside homes over the weekend, police told WABC. The New Jersey town is home to one of the world's largest yeshivas.

Elsewhere in the tri-state area, police are investigating a trio of attempted robberies targeting Orthodox Jewish men in New York City's Brooklyn borough early Monday morning. The separate incidents happened around the same neighborhood within a span of 40 minutes, beginning at 5 a.m. local time.

The victims were a 71-year-old man, a 67-year-old man and a 56-year-old man. In each incident, the victim was approached by a group of three young men who came up from behind and punched them in the face, went through their pockets and then fled with nothing, according to police.

Two of the victims were transported to a local hospital for their injuries, while the third refused treatment, police said.

No arrests have been made yet. Investigators are looking into whether the incidents were hate crimes, according to police.

A hate crime investigation is underway after 59 headstones were defaced and two were knocked over at a Jewish cemetery in Massachusetts, according to local police.

Officers responded to the Hebrew Cemetery in Fall River Sunday afternoon after a maintenance worker discovered gravestones damaged with swastikas and anti-Semitic messages, including "expel the Jew" and "Hitler was right," according to police.

It appeared the crime occurred Saturday or early Sunday morning, police said.

A Bristol County Sheriff's deputy walked the grounds of the cemetery Wednesday as relatives of those whose graves were desecrated documented the vandalism.

Men at a Norway mosque overpowered a gunman who fired shots at them in an alleged terror attack, preventing any loss of life and holding the suspect until police arrived.

Oslo police on Sunday praised the men for their "great courage" in confronting an armed attacker. The shooting took place Saturday inside the al-Noor Islamic Centre in the Bærum municipality, just west of the capital.

“There is no doubt that their efforts prevented this from having entirely different consequences," Rune Skjold of the Oslo police said in a statement.

The suspect, described as a 20-year-old white man from the local area, was not identified by police, but investigators said he had shown far-right and anti-immigrant sentiments. The attack was being investigated as terrorism, and authorities were also investigating a message board post whose author claimed to be the suspect and praised the lethal attacks in March at mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand.
