Is there a difference between a sin and a crime? There are many matters that factor into a question like this.

Here is a scripture that is important for understanding. The word iniquity as well as the word sin are found here.

Deuteronomy 19:15 NASB - 15 "A single witness shall not rise up against a man on account of any iniquity or any sin which he has committed; on the evidence of two or three witnesses a matter shall be confirmed.

Would a crime be something that is done that involves the death penalty as its punishment? Would a sin be missing the mark in something that does not involve the death penalty as a punishment? I think not.

Breaking the law or transgressing in regard to a commandment. Sin is transgression of the law. Sin is lawlessness.
