The government should not be involved in marriage at all. People shouldn't have to ask for government permission to get married. Government is literally involved in every aspect of out lives, and it's absurd.

So if some guy wants to 'marry' his sister, his father, his mother, his child, or six of his neighbors, government shouldn't be concerned about the negative effects that it will have on society?

Our government is the biggest negative effect on society. They're going to somehow help society?

God ordained civil government as one of three institutions for the governance of man (the Church and the family being the other two). Don't blame Him for creating it, blame those who believe (or pretend to) in Him for not holding it up to His standards.

Humans created marriage, not God . And marriage has had a variety of different forms over the ages in different parts of the world . In the Bible POLYGAMY is actually the norm . So why don't we revive polygamy , since we are a Christian nation " based on Bible ?.NOT !!!!
There is nothing in the Bible which specifies marriage being only between one man and one woman . It features marriage between one man and one woman. In Tibet , one woman has been sometimes been allowed to marry more than one man . Among many American Indian tribes, same sex marriage has been considered to be a sacred tradition .
If you don't like same sex marriage, don't marry someone of the same sex . Nobody in America is forcing you to do this .

Nearly half of all marriages end in divorce, and the remarriage rate devalues whatever 'family' there is after initial divorce.
It's a sad state affairs, which does more damage then homosexual marriage could ever do.

If you 'divorce' someone and get involved with another person, then it's adultery. Trying to 'maintain' marriage in America by condemning gay marriage is like punching a bird- exerting all that energy for nothing.

Yes.

The status of marriage has been damaged more and more by heterosexual couples in this country for decades.

Hello ACW,

I think Daniel is saying the government shouldn't recognize anyone as married at all. I could be wrong; Daniel may correct me.

Anyway - what's stopping a man now from living as if he's married to his sister, or six of his neighbors?
