They were lied to: told they were helpless, etc..

True, they shouldn't have listened to the lies.. should have done this or that differently, but sometimes people really do ... um.. believe certain things that are not entirely true...

So please do not vilify the dependent folks. They could be independent if they did not live in a world that fosters dependency.

Now we need to get to work to change the system.. A system that fosters dependency is destined to fail... is failing... like ancient Rome...
