  • National Football League and Kneeling During National Anthem

What is you have a business and one of your employees becomes politically active on the job? And what if his political activism is resulting in driving away some of your customers? What are you to do? Simple! You fire the political activist.

That is what is happening in the NFL today. Some of the players think that they have a right to be politically active on the job and as a result they kneel during the National Anthem and those actions drive customers away. The fans would tolerate them kneeling as a protest before the anthem because that action does not pour contempt on the flag and what it stands for. But no, some of the players refuse to compromise and do the sensible thing but instead must do the very thing that shows disrespect for the flag.

If I were an owner I would tell my players that if they kneel during the National Anthem they are fired!

I guess you are defending kneeling during the National Anthem.

What if you had a business and one of your employees became politically active on the job and that activism ended up costing you customers?

Of course you would just smile and bear it and wouldn't fire that employee. NOT!

              Seriously..... first, that's why I won't and don't run a biz.
But to humour you....yes I'd fire him if he was protesting instead of doing the work he was being paid to do.

As far as Kapernick (sp?) He did his job as per his contract....he simply kneeled prior to the game.

Plus, a Walmart employ hardly wields the influence (or contractual employer obligation) of an NFL quarterback...but hey, keep up the spurious-good-work Jerries!

So you don't run a biz because you don't want to deal with problems like these?

If everyone has your attitude then the government would turn socialist and would that make you happy?

Yes, during the National Anthem, thereby showing contempt for the anthem and all it stands for. And many fans don't like that so in effect Kapernick insulted those who are responsible for him being paid millions of dollars. But he is too dumb to realize that.

                  One of many reasons.

One of the biggest lies propagated by the right.

Kapernick likewise kneeled in respone to those who are responsible for holding down his people...a honorable and intelligent act despite his fortune and success at being a gifted NFL athlete.

                      Spin is a multi-directional effect.

"...thereby showing contempt for the anthem and all it stands for.." (like freedom of expression?)

A typical conservative overstatement...especially the highlighted section.

I'm still undecided whether they do this deceitful slight-of-hand on purpose or is simply just knee-jerk ignorance.

Or exactly "what all it stands for" means.

Does it mean "liberty and justice for all?"

Or does it mean 'America the way I want to see it: homogenized christian, white, heterosexual, patriarchal'
