At least five of the officers involved in Breonna Taylor’s case were part of another botched drug raid a year and a half before the 26-year-old was killed. The 2018 incident traumatized a family, led to zero charges, and is the subject of an ongoing lawsuit filed against the Louisville Metro Government. Unredacted body camera footage obtained by VICE News shows unidentified Louisville Metro Police officers ramming through the front door of West Louisville resident Mario Daugherty, firing flash bangs into his house, and shouting at Daugherty’s girlfriend, Ashlea Burr and their crying children — who were 13 and 14 at the time — to come outside. Floyd was pleading to breathe before the officers even put him on the ground, which you'd know if you watched the full video. Apparently, OD'ing on fentanyl can do that to you.

I agree that the one police officer was wrong to put his knee on the back of Floyd's neck. I've never disputed that, and he'll have his day in court because of it. But that apparently isn't what killed Floyd. What killed him was an overdose of fentanyl.

I've seen the full video and also a full report, covered here:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-52861726

There's nothing to legitimately suggest that Floyd died as a result of any drugs in his system or for any justification as to how all of the cops who apprehended him acted in this event. There's certainly nothing that excuses his being sat on for over seven and a half minutes. It's still on record as being as a homicide. The guy wasn't posing a threat, he was compliant, he was handcuffed and there were armed cops about. This isn't to say that police in general would have handled this as badly as this lot did in question but this incident was an absolute disgrace and that is solely on behalf of the cops who abused their position in this instance.

He was saying "I can't breathe, I can't breathe" long before he was on the ground. And the autopsy shows no neck compression occurred.

He suffered en episode of respiratory arrest due to the fentanyl overdose he caused himself, to avoid being caught with it and sent back to prison

Not according to legitimate reports, no.

Sorry about that. Well, not really...

Trump will be reelected because the Democrats chose to run someone unelectable, and the electorate who aren't blinded by TDS will realize that he's the better choice, just as they did four years ago.

:rotfl:

Oh, what, you were being serious?

Trump is a global laughing stock, a satirists dream for sure but hardly an American one.

Who was better able to judge that? The officers on the scene struggling with a 6 foot 4, 240 pound perp resisting arrest, or you, some doofus from england?

"Struggling"? Have you seen the video and report? They were armed cops, he was handcuffed and compliant, on the ground with a guy sitting on his neck for seven minutes and forty six seconds pleading to breathe.

Wow, you really are thick.

There's nothing to legitimately suggest that Floyd died as a result of any drugs in his system ...

The levels of fentanyl and fentanyl metabolites in his blood were consistent with those found in people who had overdosed on fentanyl

She's not protecting anybody and it is not "irrelevant"...

Rusha is totally capable of standing up for herself but I do support her and understand and share her concern that there's something rotten in law enforcement - but it isn't new, it's always been there, but like everything else, in the age of social media it's been easier to share and amplify the rot. Americans of color know the history and the current reality, American racists don't want to know it and American whites with privilege are all too often oblivious.

It is normal insofar that in the US the police feel they have a green light to use deadly force even when their lives are not threatened. The deadly threat is selectively based on the color of the skin of those who are targeted. One *leader* rewards this type of behavior while a previous one mourned the loss of life and sang “Amazing Grace”. Thus far, when it comes to leadership, your country has dodged that proverbial bullet. We have our leader reversing the decision against war criminal
Edward Gallagher (SEALs) who shot civilians and killed a wounded captive with a hunting knife and took pictures of himself posing with his dead body

Valuing life in a way that matters begins with getting rid of anyone who enforces and rewards such injustices. Without change, we are going the way of Russia and Saudi Arabia. Khashoggi. Navalalny. I see this as the future of America if people continue to allow it.

Look, I just don't want the police in general tarred with the same broad brush. You know I'm no fan of the current WH misoccupant...

There was a case on Channel 4 news tonight where this is still too prevalent so I'm gonna back off...

Court filings: Medical examiner thought George Floyd had 'fatal level' of fentanyl in system

MINNEAPOLIS (FOX 9) - New exhibits filed in the case against the four former Minneapolis Police Officers accused of murdering George Floyd suggest the Hennepin County Medical Examiner thought George Floyd’s fentanyl levels were at a potentially “fatal level”, but his and other medical examiner’s findings showed he died of a combination of factors.

Six pieces of evidence were filed in the case Tuesday one day after former officer Tou Thao’s attorneys requested the release of the full autopsy reports from the Hennepin County Medical Examiner, the Armed Forces Medical Examiner and the private medical examiners hired by George Floyd’s family.

The Armed Forces Medical Examiner filed a memorandum agreeing with the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s final conclusion that Floyd's death was a homicide, saying, “His death was caused by the police subdual and restraint in the setting of severe hypertensive atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, and methamphetamine and fentanyl intoxication.”

However, two other memos filed Tuesday from the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office about conversations with Chief Hennepin County Medical Examiner Dr. Andrew Baker paint a different picture about the nature of Floyd’s death.

In one memorandum filed May 26 after a virtual meeting with Baker, the Attorney’s Office said Baker concluded, “The autopsy revealed no physical evidence suggesting that Mr. Floyd died of asphyxiation.” Baker told the attorney his investigation was incomplete pending a toxicology report, however.

The other memorandum filed June 1 by the Attorney’s Office indicated Baker said Floyd’s level of fentanyl was “pretty high,” and a potentially “fatal level.”

"[Dr. Andrew Baker] said that if Mr. Floyd had been found dead in his home (or anywhere else) and there were no other contributing factors he would conclude that it was an overdose death,” the June 1 memo said.
