Andrew Cuomo: NY Has 15 Times Coronavirus Cases of CA Because ‘We Welcome People’
      https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2...elcome-people/

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said Wednesday that the state was getting hit hardest in the United States because of their welcoming spirit.

Cuomo noted that New York had 15 times the coronavirus cases of California and other states and offered his opinion about why that was the case.

“Because we welcome people from across the globe,” he said. “We have people coming here, we have people who came here from China, who came here from Italy, who came here from all across the globe

I applied my thoughts to this last night for a while, and I came up with what I believe to be the correct answer on how to move forward.

President Trump needs to strike a balance now, between the risk of the virus and the need of the country to move forward. That is where we are at now. Continued isolation will destroy the economy, the country, and many lives, especially of lower income families. We are now at a point where we must accept the risk and move on with life. Allow me to give you an example:

Regarding motor vehicles: In 2010 in the USA, there were an estimated 5,419,000 crashes, 30,296 deadly, killing 32,999, and injuring 2,239,000. About 2,000 children under 16 die every year in traffic collisions. Records indicate that there were 3,613,732 motor vehicle fatalities in the United States from 1899 to 2013.

As a country we now accept that we must have so many deaths a year using automobiles. Now certainly we could stop all automobile deaths by ordering no more automobiles to be allowed on the road. If we focus narrowly on that one single goal then we could achieve it by just not allowing any more motor vehicles to run. But of course that would destroy the economy and the country. Therefore as a nation we have come to accept the fact that the risk of vehicle deaths is outweighed the need of the country to deliver goods and the need of people to get to work.

This virus situation is no different. We are now at a point where the danger to the people from The Cure is worse than the danger from the virus! We are now at a point where America must get back to work and accept the risks of the virus the same way we accept the risks from all other diseases, or car accidents, or plane accidents, slipping in the shower, and any number of risks that we take every day just by living life.

This is what President Trump is faced with. He must make a decision and I am sure he will make the right one. Sadly there are millions of little worms and pieces of garbage on the sidelines waiting to take him down and attack him for whatever decision he makes. And of course if he makes no decision they will attack him for that too as well as attack him for the resulting destroyed economy.

Speaking for myself I am ready to take the risk that comes with the existence of the virus and move on with life. I take a risk everyday getting in my car, I take a risk everyday getting in the shower, I take a risk everyday that I could catch any number of diseases. It's time to get back to work and let the medical community continue its good work to lessen and lesson the deaths caused by this as they do the deaths caused by all other diseases.

And that is my comment, the smartest one people will hear by the way.

Well, who doesn't want life back as to how it was before this pandemic? I'd like to be able to go down my local pub and socialise with friends, to be able to go out more than once a day for essential purposes only etc. I also don't want hospitals being overrun and more and more people getting sick and dying because measures are lifted that allow this virus to spread unchecked. As soon as it's tenable for regulations to be relaxed then great, couldn't come soon enough but only when the situation is under control, otherwise it's just irresponsible.
Well this is fun isn't it?

Well, since "white nationalist" is a made up fake phrase, that makes sense.

Someone who defends the people who sided with Nazi sympathizers to oppress their own people, is pretty much a tool by making the defense.

As usual, you call the rational irrational, and the sensible not sensible. That's because you're another leftist on the wrong side of history.

Again, unlike you, he's a rational person who uses reason in his arguments, either in agreement or in opposition to points of view. You don't in any way, shape or form, in fact your levels of ignorance and lack of knowledge on issues is staggering.

                        Good Morning Arthur!
Did you take part in the 'Clap for Carers' yesterday evening?
We thought we should take part and didn't expect a lot of neighbours to appear at 2000 gmt, but we were amazed to find the whole road out and waiting, all calling to each other every which way.

The noise at 2000 was so loud! People were clapping, banging tins together, drumming.........

I notice that BBC is reporting the US to have the highest number of covid sickness today.
                        Wednesday figure reported was 55,000
                        Thursday............ 70,000
                        This morning.......85,500

If the US peak is, say, a month away then any maths calc taken from the above and expanded x28 is catastrophic, I think.

The above was sent to another member.

The earnest policing of isolation begins today. Have you got plenty of good reasons for going out?
I have been bike riding quite a lot up 'til now, but we are only supposed to go out once a day for exercise and so I am going to take one long ride instead of a few shorter ones.
We are supposed to go to the nearest food shops (only) but because my wife has a stomach condition I will be going to the larger supermarkets that have dairy-free and gluten-free displays, so I guess that will be reason enough to have gone past smaller shops.

Although Builders Merchants are all closed, one is taking telephone orders for home delivery, so I'm going to telephone one order through for everything that I will need for my summer jobs, together with whatever wifey wants for decorating. I think our home is going to get a bit of a brush-up this summer.

You like your local, I know....... I'm guessing that you're a local and special brew connoisseur and so the supermarkets will be unlikely to fulfill either the brews, the company or the atmosphere, but after this business you will surely have a much deeper knowledge of tins and bottles. Have you ever thought of home-brewing? That could be a really good hobby to dive in to...... !!

So, at the same death rate as Italy (a bad scenario), the US could have 37,000 deaths a month. A) Would 30,000 a month be acceptable? B) Italians are still dying, about 700 every day. It's far from over, though it seems to be leveling off. C) The Italian death rate was "achieved" even though they instituted social distancing- though they started late.
An Italian government virologist came out the other day and said that almost all of Italy's deaths attributed to the coronavirus were due to underlying health issues, and almost all of the people who died were in their 80s. What's that tell us? That heart disease, obesity, diabetes, autoimmune disease, etc... were the underlying cause of death in almost all of the people who died from the coronavirus. Italy got hit hard because it's population is older, and older people have more of the underlying causes of death than the general population has.

The government virologist said they only had a small percentage of the paper work from the hospitals at that time, but of the paperwork they did have only 2% of the deaths were actually caused by the coronavirus. So, when that is taken into consideration the number of deaths in Italy due to coronavirus are very low. The reported deaths due to coronavirus in Italy is 8125. Multiplying that by .02 gives us 164 deaths by coronavirus without underlying health issues.
