Poll: Trump More Trustworthy Than Media on Coronavirus
https://freebeacon.com/media/poll-trump-media-trust/

Americans trust President Donald J. Trump more than they do the national media to provide accurate information about the coronavirus pandemic, according to a new poll from CBS News.

Though both are viewed as untrustworthy sources of information by a majority of Americans, the president has a narrow edge over the national media. Forty-four percent of Americans said they trust Trump to provide accurate information about the coronavirus, while 56 percent said they didn't trust the president.

By comparison, just 43 percent of Americans trust the national media when it comes to the coronavirus, according to the poll. A slightly larger majority—57 percent—said they didn't trust the media's coverage of the pandemic. Trust in the national media was particularly lacking among independent voters. Sixty-two percent of independents said they didn't trust the national media, while 51 percent said they thought the media was "overreacting" to the outbreak.

The same poll found that a majority of Americans—54 percent—were optimistic about the Trump administration's ability to deal with the China-caused pandemic. A similar majority—53 percent—said President Trump was doing a good job of handling the coronavirus outbreak.

I trust President more than I do the national media to provide accurate information about anything at all, not just the coronavirus

Trump seems to think that He can "shake off" this global pandemic by Easter. Be interesting to see how that turns out...

He has to shake it off and so do we. I applied my thoughts to this last night for a while, and I came up with what I believe to be the correct answer on how to move forward.

President Trump needs to strike a balance now, between the risk of the virus and the need of the country to move forward. That is where we are at now. Continued isolation will destroy the economy, the country, and many lives, especially of lower income families. We are now at a point where we must accept the risk and move on with life. Allow me to give you an example:

Regarding motor vehicles: In 2010 in the USA, there were an estimated 5,419,000 crashes, 30,296 deadly, killing 32,999, and injuring 2,239,000. About 2,000 children under 16 die every year in traffic collisions. Records indicate that there were 3,613,732 motor vehicle fatalities in the United States from 1899 to 2013.

As a country we now accept that we must have so many deaths a year using automobiles. Now certainly we could stop all automobile deaths by ordering no more automobiles to be allowed on the road. If we focus narrowly on that one single goal then we could achieve it by just not allowing any more motor vehicles to run. But of course that would destroy the economy and the country. Therefore as a nation we have come to accept the fact that the risk of vehicle deaths is outweighed the need of the country to deliver goods and the need of people to get to work.

This virus situation is no different. We are now at a point where the danger to the people from The Cure is worse than the danger from the virus! We are now at a point where America must get back to work and accept the risks of the virus the same way we accept the risks from all other diseases, or car accidents, or plane accidents, slipping in the shower, and any number of risks that we take every day just by living life.

This is what President Trump is faced with. He must make a decision and I am sure he will make the right one. Sadly there are millions of little worms and pieces of garbage on the sidelines waiting to take him down and attack him for whatever decision he makes. And of course if he makes no decision they will attack him for that too as well as attack him for the resulting destroyed economy.

Speaking for myself I am ready to take the risk that comes with the existence of the virus and move on with life. I take a risk everyday getting in my car, I take a risk everyday getting in the shower, I take a risk everyday that I could catch any number of diseases. It's time to get back to work and let the medical community continue its good work to lessen and lesson the deaths caused by this as they do the deaths caused by all other diseases.

And that is my comment, the smartest one people will hear by the way.

Continued isolation will destroy the economy, the country, and many lives, especially of lower income families. We are now at a point where we must accept the risk and move on with life. Allow me to give you an example:

The risk of not containing this virus and allowing it to spread without restrictive measures is well known. A few weeks ago this thing seemed like something far away that wasn't going to have anything like the impact it subsequently has and I'm as guilty as many others of being casual about it. Not anymore. There's reasons why so many countries are in lockdown and that is to slow this pandemic down and reduce cases and spread. In the UK, it's not as though work has ceased completely but there's no denying the impact on the economy either. If we don't have these measures in place then the infection spreads at a rate that the health service simply wouldn't be able to cope with. As it is it's struggling and that's why thousands of volunteers are being asked for and for former workers to come out of retirement to aid in the crisis. Hey, if it's possible for things to change around as early as April 12th then great, all for it. The likelihood of that happening given prevailing scientific opinion is that it's going to be a good bit longer than that before things can get back to something like 'normal'.

Regarding motor vehicles: In 2010 in the USA, there were an estimated 5,419,000 crashes, 30,296 deadly, killing 32,999, and injuring 2,239,000. This virus, by its very nature, infects people, makes them ill and in worst cases kills. Cars don't. Most times people get in cars, travel to work and whatever destination and arrive intact. Sure, there's a risk just as there is when you walk up and down the stairs but there's a balance between the necessity of something and the risk involved. Now, if you allow this virus to spread without containment then here's what's gonna happen. More and more people are going to get ill, more people are going to die, more people are going to be unable to work, health services wouldn't just be unable to cope with the victims of this virus but those who are ill with other serious diseases. Hospitals would be overrun to breaking point and beyond. If you get this virus, you get ill, you might die. If you get in a car you get in a car and chances are you'll get out of it unscathed.

It's absolutely different as explained above.

Of course you are because for you, this guy can seemingly do no wrong. If anyone criticizes anything he does you don't look at their arguments objectively or have a reasoned conversation about it, you just launch into puerile stuff like the above. Frankly, I hope he does do the right and responsible thing with the current situation. That will involve listening to expert, scientific advisors about the prudent action to take whatever that may happen to be. It could possibly involve further restrictions as oppose to relaxing them yet. It remains to be seen.

You may well be but what you're not taking into account is how the medical community would cope if you let this thing go unchecked and just run rampant. In short, you just haven't got a clue as to how medical services are struggling to cope with the situation with curbing measures in place as it is.

And that is my comment, the smartest one people will hear by the way.

Well of course, you'd think that...

You do it your way in foggy London and we'll do it our way. You guys are socialists anyways so you won't notice being poor and falling apart.

I don't live in London and it's a warm sunny day in my town. I'm not a "socialist" either but delude yourself as you will. America's way is the way of many other places. Restrictive measures to reduce the spread of this virus. Your way is flat out irresponsible, ill thought out at absolute best and bereft of anything resembling an educated position on the matter.

On that note, have a nice day, stay safe and stay indoors.

I watched Broken the other day, a British coming of age movie with Tim Roth, one of my faves, and afterwards googled "chavs" and "chav culture" - interesting stuff in you want a glimpse at the underbelly of British society

oh, and btw - artie is one of the biggest and oldest trolls on the site - when the pubs re-open you'll see his abusive side

Trump Gurl is one of those who would still vote for this moron if he did shoot someone in the middle of 5th Avenue.

One of the problems with this virus now is that it threatens to overwhelm the hospital system, especially in metropolitan areas. I know this to be true, not because Gov Cuomo said so, but because my daughter is an ID doc at a nyc hospital. Everyone, by now, has seen the curves. To quote my daughter, "People stay home. Flatten the (explitive deleted) curve.

Trump is a moron. A certain part of the troubled US response lays at his feet. But he refuses to accept any responsibility. He, god help us, is in charge. He dismantled an NSC (?) unit that was to deal with this; his administration ignored briefings on a yearly basis (too few pictures maybe) and his "this will be over soon,no big deal" attitude only made things worse.
His ignorance is startling as is his ability to lie along with his need for a quick fix---oh the malaria drug will cure it all.

it probably would depend on who he shot

Hillary? You bet.

Trump is a moron ....

So turn him off. Unplug. Get your news from the BBC.

Listen to the health experts and act on their advice. If you think you're safer staying locked in your bedroom for the next seven years, stay locked in your bedroom for the next seven years.

Me? I've got leaves to rake. :wave2:

Especially if he shot you, then I'd find a way to vote for him more than once.

Lowest unemployment in 50 years, booming economy, new trade deals, rebuilding the military, manufacturing jobs coming back, you're darn right I will vote for that again. Only a dull, dim, deficient, dopey dolt like you would not vote for that.

Well, if it's such a "booming economy" then you shouldn't mind lockdown measures to contain the spread of a pandemic then.
