Open letter to Governor of Nevada Steve Sisolak,
I am a resident of Nevada and your recent actions are that of an out of control authoritarian. The only way that Nevada will survive your tenure as Governor is for good men to push back against your lust for power and ignore your unlawful and immoral decrees to close their lawful businesses.
You have decreed that "non-essential" businesses close for at least 30 days. And just yesterday you doubled down on "your" demand that non-essential businesses close for 30 days in the state of Nevada, this time with threats of "civil" penalties and possible jail time.
Mr. Sisolak what you don't understand is that nothing in the capitalist private sector is "non-essential".
Just as inside a brilliantly crafted time piece, there are no parts that are non-essential to the inner workings of the watch. The same is true in a capitalistic enterprise. In a vibrant capitalist endeavor there are no non-essential moving parts. In a capitalist society if you're non-essential, well . . . then there is a process for ending that endeavor, it is called bankruptcy.
The only non-essential part of the capitalist society in Nevada are the bureaucrats who work for you, who feed off of the productive among us and in turn provide us with only grief.
It is the height of arrogance and an abuse of power for you or anyone to pick and choose what is "essential" for the public. If a business is legal it should stay legal as it is "essential" for some persons well being or it would fail. Markets decide who and what is essential, not you.
Mr Sisolak, as was clearly seen by all who viewed your press conference announcing "your" decree, you are arrogant and drunk with your usurped dictatorial powers. Sobering up will be slow but you will be sobered you as you fail at your bid for reelection.
While you wield powers that the citizens did not give you, unfortunately to date there is not one good man or woman that will stand against you. No pastor, no titan of the casino industry, and no political leader is pushing back. All the so-called good men and women do nothing to impede your authoritarian instincts.
Pastors who I once looked up to, now tremble and cower as they close their churches in fear of a you. Your lust for power succeeds in the vacuum created by fearful men and women that lack the courage and the faith to push back. Sadly, many of them claim to be Christian.
God created viruses and our immune systems that keeps them at bay in all but those who have underlying medical conditions. If a person can cough hard enough to expel the congestion in their lungs from the flu then they will survive the flu.
Saddest of all, there is one man that I have read about who refused to close his legal business. A man that I would on any other day, in any other circumstance detest. An owner of a truly despicable business of trafficking women in a "gentleman's" club. He said to the effect that, "the world doesn't stop turning because you have a cold" and his business remains open while churches close, my heart breaks at the juxtaposition. Lowly is the day when good men say and do nothing while an evil mans voice is the only one of reason.
Tomorrow is Sunday, I will look for an open church and if I find one, I will attend and contribute to that Church in spirit and in treasure. Then, I will earnestly seek out that man or women in the pulpit to shake their hand and to praise them for having what most are lacking, faith and courage. And I will pray that you will repent your lust for power and release the productive class to Make Nevada Great Again!
