Matthews: ‘A Little Late to Stop’ Sanders in Primary – GOP Will ‘Kill Him’

During MSNBC’s Nevada caucus coverage on Saturday, host Chris Matthews stated that 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) will win the Democratic nomination unless there is some shift in the race, but “it’s a little late to stop him,” and that there is “so much” opposition research on Sanders and Republicans will “kill him.”

Matthews said, “It looks like Bernie Sanders is hard to beat right now. I’m with Carville all the way in terms of the dangers of what lurks — what lies ahead in November. I’m very much aware of them. They’re sitting on so much oppo research on Bernie, what he said in the past about world affairs, how far left he is. I’m not sure how far left he is, but they’re going to make the most of that in terms of world politics. They’re going to kill him.”

Chris Matthews has some serious questions about Sen. Bernie Sanders’ socialism. During an appearance on a panel discussion with Chris Hayes this weekend, Matthews, ever the fiery Democrat, said he remembered the Cold War and “the Reds.”

He went on to say that had the communists won, people like Matthews would have been shot in Central Park while others, presumably like Sanders, cheered. Hayes seemed somewhat shocked as Matthews continued the diatribe.

That's why I posted it. For him to say that the GOP will beat Sanders is a big deal because he is usually a cheerleader for the Democrats.

Please, Democrats, find a practical, moderate candidate for president to help those of us in the center of the American political spectrum oust Donald Trump and his mindless supporters in Congress from power in November.

The Bernie Sanders revolution is not the answer.

The country needs a return to sanity, not an extremist from the idealistic far left to defeat Trump, the extremist reactionary on the far right. Give us someone — any gender or race — who is a real problem solver and who has some hope of winning the presidential and congressional election and then creating the political conditions for real change.​
